Ditto - ordered 23rd, arrived today. Great service. Set up and going pretty quickly.  Wind direction correct with arrow to south as instructed.  My main issue is going to be the accuracy of the haptic rain sensor (useful for the farm in the foothills compared to Paraparaumu airport location for Metservice).  Once I get a 3m plus deer post from Farmlands, will mount it properly with a manual rain gauge and do some checks!

Yes - had seen that as i read through the thread, and it's definitely good to have some local recent feedback! It's just that a number of users and reviewers have commented on potential inaccuracies in the past, although the good news is that the general consensus is that it seems to be improving over time. We will see :-)

All set up and running ok. Did 180deg offset for wind. Only problem is barometric pressure seems to read low, 1010 compared to 1022 on our existing (and other nearby) station. Can this be calibrated at all?

Well -First post in this discussion - Intro to follow later.

Received my unit last Thursday, Shipped Monday. Like others, I had to add the Wind offset, and also had the issue where the barometric pressure was reading approx 10hPa low. I logged a ticket about it over the weekend, but so far no response. After being powered on for about 48 hrs, it suddenly corrected and now reads as expected. - Suggest you give it a day or two and see if it self corrects.

Odd that my barometric pressure at 1022.6 agrees with Metservice at 1024 currently. Station/atmospheric pressure is 10hPa lower but we are approx 85m asl. That is straight out of the box today. Luck of the draw?

EDIT: typo when typing on the mobile!

I received a response from Weatherflow overnite - with an apology for the delay, about the error in the Barometric pressure reading -

Your Tempest employs a calibration and quality control system that we call, Continuous Learning. Certain data, such as RH, temperature, pressure, and UV data is analyzed by this quality control process and a calibration adjustment is applied to the measurements if necessary. This is a great feature that will automatically apply calibrations as needed and keep instrument readings accurate for the long term as well - it can just take a few hours after a new station is brought online for the algorithms to run.

@Niscoupe - hopefully your unit has now corrected itself, based on the above response and how my unit behaved although it took 48 hrs.

edit: Just noticed that my battery voltage has also jumped and is now showing a wider operating curve. The last 3 days has been flat at 2.59 volts , but now showing a rise to 2.84v just before the sun dropped, with the voltage dropping overnight.

It appears that the calibration AI works on the battery monitor as well.

Are these algorithms run on the device or on the WeatherFlow (Tempest) server and the update fed to the device?

Shops opened so... done

If anyone is wondering it is a standard 1.5m Matchmaster antenna pole. In order to make it work you need to do something to make the inch pipe fatter.

I happened to have a length of 25mm conduit repair sleeve that is the exact right size (you can get it at bunnings). The only thing is you really need to rough up the surfaces of everything to stop it twisting. The pole mount is not really that brilliant.

I would be interested to see if your temps are higher due to it being above roofing iron

You can see from the link below that I got a slight spike when I shifted it about 4:15, but that was me lying it on the roof as I adjusted the direction of the mount

(the pressure dropped and the wind speed increased and changed direction as expected)

Its seems to be bang on with the other stations in my area and it is quite away from the roof and on the end with the prevailing wind... but as you say we will see

I believe with wunderground you can tell it how high the Weather Station is above the physical ground so it can correctly report pressure

yes you are right, I had already told them it was at 5.6m when it was only at 1.5...hence the slight change I guess
