krusta: So my real question is will I have any problems using a USA destined Kindle here in NZ?
krusta: Is it worth paying for the 3G option? Looks like it uses Voda's 2100 network, or GPRS if you can bear it.

The 3G is convenient because if you run out of books you can easily buy and load others, from anywhere, without having to find a WiFi spot that works. Good for people who travel a lot.

I have the wifi only version. I wonder if the new 2.2 android will mean myself and others in this position can access the net remotley?? Has anyone tried tethering it to a 2.2 phone?
