mysticnz: Hey,

Currently using the Sony SmartWatch 2 but looking to move to the steel as it looks more like a watch.

Have any of you guys received yours yet? What do you think?

How have you found the Sony smartwatch? Are there many useful apps for it at the moment? I was considering purchasing one and putting a leather band on it (I get staff discount so the pebble steel is over $100 more for me)

Gear 2 just announced as well. I am still feeling Peeble is the highest contender as the gear does more than I will ever use it for, and has a higher battery draw.

To answer the previous two questions:

Ordered: As soon as you could (announcement day?).  According to email it was Jan 7th.  Was "umming" and "ahhing" about ording a Pebble but wasnt quite sold on the plastic look. Jumped at the Steel.
Colour: Brushed stainless

Hey,

I was able to pick up the Sony smartwatch for staff price and I love it. There is a lot of apps for the device and because I take 10+ phonecalls a day its nice to be able to see who it is before getting my phone out!

Only thing for me is people notice that it is a smart watch and not a professional one, at staff price I would recommend it!

*In other news I just put in my order for a pebble steel :D! EXCITING!*

Any sign of shipping Scott? My status has changed from Mid to Late Feb to 6 to 8 Weeks which will be end of March at the latest....

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Mine has changed too. It says 6 to 8 weeks from date of order which for me is 8 weeks on Tuesday. Not hopeful.

I ordered the Black Matte on January 7 locally, Jan 6 according to the content of the email. It arrived today, 3rd of March.

Pretty happy with the improved* design over the older pebble, unfortunately i'm using the leather strap until I can get in to have a link or two removed.

* improved in my opinion

To quote one of the annoying kids on a DIY advert "do it yerself".

Its quite easy.  Just need a small screwdriver (or similar) to push out the locking pin. Its easy to see where - there's an engraved arrow on the link.  Takes a little bit of force, but they're quite strong.  Pulled out a 3 links myself on the weekend.  I used the small watch screwdriver that I had used to remove the pin holding the strap on.  Honestly, all very easy.
