Only had mine for a few hours (first generation Ring) but really liking it so far. Be interesting with how well it works with Couriers.

Great. It's told me a few seconds before they ring it that they're near my door.

My dog does the same.

Thanks for the help guys.

We ended up getting the first gen ring and its setup and working well so far.

We're currently trying to integrate our hue lights and our ring but getting the below error in Stringify.

Your dog can ring the doorbell? How smart! wink

After reading this forum I am going to investigate a bit more about Hue. Switching lights on when motion detected is interesting :)

Use "Stringify". :D

Thanks for this, I will try this App as soon as my Android phone comes back from Warranty. I don't have Hue bulbs as my entire house is LED downlights now.

I was also thinking to buy Amazon Echo SHOW - it is compatible with Ring to show who is at door before opening it (more like a monitor in your upstairs).

On that note, I can then sell my Amazon echo as well :)

Have you folks thought of using IFTTT instead? I use IFTTT to integrate Alexa with Hue.

I use IFTTT for Hue + Google Assistant however find it is very slow at doing anything. Tried making a "flash this light here when Ring does a thing" then find the light starts blicking 1min later... Stringify for me solved it and now has a ~2sec latency. Now have a string that turns on the front door light when motion is detected (and turns it off automatically during the day after 5mins) on the Ring and flash one hue bulb in each room when it rings.

Stringify is far more powerful than IFTTT IMO.

@freitasm You don't need a ring chime with that dog around.

@michaelmurfy I have the same issue with ifttt and the massive delay. What I'm wanting to achieve is if it's after sunset if motion is detected by the ring to turn one of the outside lights on. I get the error if my previous post when I try to set it up in Stringify, any ideas?

Edit:

Totally rewrote mine.

WHEN ring detects motion, WHEN after sunset, OUTSIDE Hue Action ON, and Another OUTSIDE Hue Action set brightness 100%, TIMER 2mins, OUTSIDE Hue Action OFF.

Will upload a pic shortly

Change "date and time" to "ONLY IF It is nighttime", not "WHEN Sunset"

edit: Mine is actually set for "After 17.30" until midnight

Awesome, that worked a treat. I knew it would be something simple.

That's the reason I love Stringify over IFTT... Soooo many options! :D

I can't get over how fast it is compared to ifttt. less than 2 seconds after motion being detected and the lights turn on vs sometimes upto 3 mins with ifttt.
