Is anyone using one of these aercus units?

My brother has one and he is having trouble with it uploading to weather underground. It stays online and uploading data etc for about 10 or 15 minutes. But after 15 or 20 minutes it stops updating though the site says he's still online. After about 60 minute the site lists him as offline.

Is there something in the Spark HG659-b that needs forwarding? I've made few changes including setting a fixed i.p for the weather station.

We don't get thunderstorms that often in Wellington but the one last night showed off how well the lightning sensor in the Tempest works:

I am impressed it could detect them at 40km range

For those wanting to access the data from their Tempest and are running NodeRED, I have found a very simple way...

Just drop a "UDP In" node similar to this;

As long as your Node RED instance is on the same subnet as your Tempest hub you should start seeing data arriving.

I then have a JSON node to convert the UDP payload to a JSON object and can then slice and dice as required.

This [repo](https://github.com/briis/hass-weatherflow2mqtt) is useful for figuring out which parts of the raw Tempest payload relate to what sensors etc.

I am more than happy to share my full flow if anyone is interested.

There is a decent weather event in Wellington currently, comparing to nearby PWS my Tempest is the lowest of the bunch by around 30mm

He will have to log into his WU account & see if there is a data collection error.

Does the unit have a timestamped log file of uploads to WU?

Hi,

In the PWS account section there should be something like "View Your Observations" which is your data stream output.

It may also pay to check on the router if the weather station is keeping a wireless connection.

Overnight it seems like my Tempest has died with a sensor error. We've had a whole lot of rain so wondering if water somehow got in :(

Sensor State: Pressure Failed, Temperature Failed, RH Failed, Wind Failed, Light UV Failed

Now the whole unit is showing as offline. Emailed support so will be interesting what happens next.

Having gone through 2 replacements so far I've found them good to deal with. Once they hear what the symptoms are they will ship a replacement sensor unit via UPS which takes about a week to arrive (it was via USPS and 4-5 weeks until this became unavailable). You then ship the faulty unit back using the cheapest available method(NZ Post Parcel tracked, about $38). Send them the tracking link and a receipt or screen shot of the payment and they credit your paypal account in $NZ for the return shipping amount within a day or 2.

@Technofreak I’ve had my replacement going for 46 days now (first Tempest lasted 11 days) and it hasn’t skipped a beat once. The good thing is their customer support is really good and they’ll happily and quickly replace it if need be.

Mine recorded its highest rain falls since I've had it yesterday and still seems to be running good.

Only problem I've had is the base unit lost signal a couple of times but seemed to resolve itself when I moved it away from my wifi access point. Only other issue is the rain fall recording is lower than other nearby stations but found they will accept me e-mailing in actual recordings from a rain gauge and use that to help calibrate it.
