t0ny:

I ordered one today. Seems like they now have limited stock for NZ. For anyone looking to order, sign up to https://weatherflow.com/shopify-keep-me-posted/ . You will receive an invitation email if there is stock and a small discount code. I didnt order the pole as the shipping cost doubles :)

Signed up to be kept posted 😀👍

I just had somebody at Weatherflow flick me out another unit - they said that it sounds highly likely water has gotten into mine (evident from the flickering LED). I can't complain about the service really, there was no mucking around and they asked me to flick back my unit using the cheapest method possible and they'll refund me for it.

My current unit is fully dead now.

What sort of price (NZD) does one of the Tempest units cost including freight to NZ?

It cost me $528.40 on 22nd August. So you’ll pay in the vicinity of this depending on the exchange rate at the time.

Just ordered 1 to go along side my Davis VP2.

Be interesting to see how close they are in terms of accuracy.

Looking fwd to the Lightning detection.

Only peripherally weather-station-related (it's telling me we had 30mm rain over the past 24 hours with another 30mm forecast for the next 24), but speaking as an Auckland resident I've got to say it's a very mild winter we've been having this summer.

For people looking for alternatives, looks like Ecowitt are getting into the all-solid-state station scene as well.

Seems odd that a company of that size would use kickstarter.

Not really, it's a way of gauging demand and getting user feedback on the product. Lots of established companies have done that in the past.

Weatherflow have done some sort of update that has "broken" my RPi3 I had feeding a dedicated monitor to display the Tempest readings from their web page for my Tempest.

Set to refresh Chromium every hour in case a screen update fails etc. (They push updates)

Worked fine for over a year, then "broke". Noticed vague comments on Weatherflows site re a January 2022 update!

I wish the Tempest etc had a "native" display available instead of all the "kludge" items that you have to choose from!

Does anyone have a SIMPLE solution?

@msukiwi Cheap Android tablet + Always On enabled in the app. Or heck, even run Android on the Pi and do it that way via the official app.
