I ordered my Original Home when they shipped direct, and that cost me maybe $30. However that is not an option at the moment. I have two mini's on route to my YouShop address at the moment. Should be there by the end of this week (they have been busy with Black Fri/Cyber Mon). Not sure what it will cost, but I should be able to consolidate the two mini's into one package.

Looks like they are 1.2lbs each and 4.6"x4.6"x4.1" in size...

Someone else might be able to let you know before I do for pricing.

I ordered a couple of minis and a standard home from B&H (used the $10 e-mailed voucher that came with the first mini to get the second one for $19.90). Unfortunately they all shipped separately, and the third one is still on the way.

I combined the Home and Mini and got them sent yesterday before the Youshop 20% off offer expired for NZD$34. I'm not 100% certain on what the non-combined price was, but both the Home and mini were going to cost the same if sent individually - around NZD$23 each on the non-rush option I think.

The YouShop codes are LOVEFROMYOUSHOP for 10% off, and TIME2SHOP for 20% off if you didn't already have them. The 20% off expires on the 8th I think, not sure about the 10%

I just hope my Mini's arrive before the 8th! I ordered them a day apart, and both are saying est delivery 6th Dec, but who knows with all of the Black Fri/Cyber Mon stuff being shipped around the country, if they will arrive before the 8th so i can use the 20% off code. Plan to ship my two minis together as a consolidated ordered.

I'm waiting until somewhere near (but under) NZ$400 worth of goods are at my Shipito address and then I'll have them consolidated and sent. I've been ordering so much in the US that I'm expecting to have two lots of consilidated goods sent before Xmas. My 12' SilPoly hammock tarp cost $274 by itself. I've got a pair of headphones as well as the GH, GH Mini & Chromecast coming from B&H, some cables from Amazon, and some camping stuff (as well as the tarp) from three other vendors. I'm taking February off and will spend 2-3 weeks motorcycle camping around the South Island.

When I try to talk to various google assistant skills / apps, it tells me they're not supported in this region.

Some work in NZ, eg:

> "Ok Google, Talk to waterlog" lets you record how much water you drank. I told it I drank 100 Million litres of water and it didn't seem concerned!
> "Talk to CNN"
> "Talk to time machine"
> "Talk to PGA tour"
> "Talk to Lonely Planet"
> "Talk to Fitstar" for exercise

But, many don't work in NZ.

Two questions:

1. Have any of your found any good Google Assistant apps that work in NZ?

2. Is there a way to circumvent the regional restrictions?

Suggest you log a fault with Google.
I did a while back. The response I got was "not supported in NZ" but that was the whole point. If enough people make a noise maybe they'll do something about it.
Anybody who knows NZers higher up the food chain at Google should advocate for improvement here.

Well, I've got my Google Home & Google Home Mini now, My LiFX bulb is in and working and my Sonoff controller is wired onto an extension cord and in the garage with my car EVSE connected to it and plugged into the car. I've also ordered a Sensibo Sky controller for my Mitsubishi heat pump. I've connected my LiFX bulb to Google Home and I can control my light enabling me to turn it on & off, dim it and make it brighter - all with my voice.

I have charged my car twice with the power flowing through the Sonoff controller. That entailed 10A flowing for around 7 hours each time, I checked the device and cord and found they were warm, but nothing burned out or smoked. The power metering seems pretty good and quite useful, letting me see how many kWh is needed to charge my car after 70km of driving.

The LiFX bulb was very pricey, but it is definitely an excellent product.

The Google Home Mini does work fine while powered by a power bank, it is pretty cool making it 100% portable. I have it currently powered by a mains powered multi-USB device (5 USB ports) that is also used to charge my phone, tablet, watch & other devices. I have positioned the Google Home on my computer desk and the Google Home Mini on a set of drawers very close to my head while I'm in bed, this means that I can ask Google to turn off my light without raising my voice at all.

I really like how Google Assistant does a decent job of responding to natural English requests. I can say "hey google, kill the lights" or "OK Google, turn off the light" or many other similar things and it gets the gist of it and turns off my light. It isn't perfect and some improvements would definitely be welcome, but it works fairly well as it is now. The shopping list is complete rubbish, really badly implemented, just try deleting an item you asked it to add to your list to see what I mean. Overall I'm quite pleased though.

Has anyone got their Google Home and and a Wemo light switch working. I can add the Wemo switch to Google home but when I try and activate it Google tells me no lights are set up.
(There are a couple of errors when adding saying it can't save the settings. But it shows as set up afterwards and can allocate a room)

My work around is to use IFTTT.
Be nice to intergrate it properly into Google. The 5 second delay is not perfect.

I don't have wemo, but I use stringify to trigger lights... Waaaay quicker than IFTTT

I just noticed something strange with my GH that I have had for almost a year now. I've always had the language set to US English as the voice is quiet pleasant.

Then today I noticed when asking about the weather, and no matter what location, the voice is an Australian! But for all other requests the voice is the aforementioned US female. That is strange. Anybody else notice this?

Yep - this started several days ago for our weather forecasts too, although everything else is US voice. Hopefully it's not an automatic localisation thing that's going to override other options, because that Australian accent is definitely a bit grating.
