richms: The thing is the old bridge and app let you just forward the port and put your ext ip or dynamic host name in the app.
New app detects the new bridges on the same layer 2 and has no way to enter an ip or host name and port to send to.

Hi Rich, yes the old app did let you specify the IP address. so it was easy to put in a public ip address that happened to be the IP address of your home internet. But now that the app sends a UDP broadcast to 10.1.1.255 and waits for some replies. this ain't gonna work so well when you are out and about on the 2degrees 3g network because that IP only exists on the internal network.

• So the next best you can do is wait for the next release, I'll see about adding in the manual ip address feature again.

• Or you can fully close and re-open the iphone app and use the world icon.

That's all I can think of for the moment, I'll let you know if I come up with some other suggestions.

I've finally purchased some of these, from limitlessled.com (wifilights.co.nz is horrendously expensive in comparison).

This may have already been answered, however I cannot see it, I would not mind buying some 9W B22, but for 5 of them from wifilights it will cost around $180.
Any chance limitlessled could supply the 9W, even at a reasonable price? Otherwise it would be cheaper to climb into the room and wire in more light fittings.

What do you mean? Limitless has B22 for the dual white and RGB lights. Just hit the drop down.

So my 2c on these LimitlessLED bulbs after 24hours of use.

WAF: She likes them, but does not understand how cool it is to control the lights in all different ways from a remote and your phone. Especially when you are not even at home, just want until Im away and decide to turn them off remotely for fun :D

Our living area is around 18 sqm, which 2x7W dual white bulbs struggle to light sufficiently, we want them set somewhere between cool and warm which does make them appear darker.
The kitchen/dining are semi open to the living area, but slightly smaller and 3 7W dual whites set to their coolest are ample.

The wifi link bridge is easy to use, but not sure if it really going to be that handy for me overall, but a good toy all the same.

My office is small, but the 1x9W RGBW set to its warm white is ok for this area, but having the curtains open does help a little.

If the 9W does appear at a cheaper price that the current $47 (saving $94?) per bulb, I will fit out the rest of the house, but at this stage it does appear to be an expensive exercise.

Yup they have those too. Mine are all dual white bayonet bulbs.

I notice a couple of people mentioned having issues with disconnections, needing to power cycle bridges etc.

Has anyone had these issues with the V4 bridge?

My V2 bridge ran rock solid for several months, with my custom scripts turning the hallway lights on & off every day. Now a flatmate wanted a RGBW light so I upgrade to a V4 bridge which has been very flaky. I've tried powering it from 2 different AC to 5V USB supplies, a desktop PC and a Mac laptop, and tested with two different wifi access points, n-only, b/g, b/g/n.

I've noticed that it will work fine for a while (approx 1-4 hours) and then fail. Router logs show that this is often associated with repeated dhcp requests every 20 seconds for hours on end.

Ive given up with my new gateway, both them and the old one are packed in a box now. Flakey as. Would often cause the cheap TP link AP's to lose all ability to handle clients when connected.

Will try again once I get my dual band unifi's bought and installed.

Ive had no issues with my v4 dropping off, pretty stable only reboots when I repower the router (currently 37 days uptime)

Maybe there is different firmware available?

It would either not work, or show in the list as being associated at 1megabit and have about 10 seconds lag from pressing something in the app to it happening.

If it was wired then there would be no issues like that.

Has anyone tried pulling the wireless module out of it, and instead feeding it from a raspberry pi or other platform that can host interesting things directly?

yeah the Wifi Bridge v4 is very reliable and our best yet.. it will even auto-reconnect itself to the wifi if there is a power outage also.

I'm using unifi with a gen 2 (? I think) bridge. The 802.11g only variant. I have a separate SSID that is using B/G only mostly for it, and I don't seem to get any issues like you are describing with the TP link AP. I have added the bridge to the power board that gets a scheduled power down-power up sometime in the early ours of the morning though.

My issue with the V4 bridge was actually the micro USB connector had come loose from the board. With help from Hamish I hard wired a USB cable to the board. Been running fine for around 2 weeks now.
