So because I'm on my third Tempest in less than 12 months I'm a self-appointed expert on these things haha, but to be honest your battery graph looks very similar to mine as it was in the process of failing. At our place today we had way less sunshine than you did and for much less duration yet in the space of an hour or so my battery increased from 2.63v to 2.78v, whereas yours increased by 0.01v.

It's probably worth reaching out to their support team and they will be able to tell straight away if it's ok or not, but yeah that definitely looks familiar. It only took my initial email to them querying it for them to say it wasn't right and for a replacement to be sent.

Also ensure the solar panels are not covered with dirt from the elements. I know I need to clean mine every now and then.

Weatherflow confirmed the Battery looked good up till Saturday so sounds like we just need a sunny day.

Noticed the app got an update today, I'm not so sure about the dark purple colour scheme

Wellington has had its wettest August on record so far and appears it may have been too much for my Tempest to handle.

It went offline at about 6.30pm last night, pulled it down this morning to reset it and noticed this time the top section of the unit (wind sensor and rain sensor) were loose. When I tipped it on it's side I noticed a bit of orange fluid drip out. I managed to tighten up the loose screws with a precision screwdriver but upon testing it after re-setting it up the status is showing "Temperature_Failed", "RH_Failed" and "Wind Failed".

Hopefully weatherflow can come to the rescue!

Next day edit: Left it inside overnight to "dry out", set it back up this morning but left it on the front deck to test and seems to be running ok so might mount it in a new spot that isn't so damp

Does anyone have some experience with a model XC0369 weatherstation?

The indoor display unit on mine has died? seems to be common issue? my uncles one has done the same.

I've tried an identical replacement power supply, display still doesnt light up.

Just noticed someone is selling a Davis Vantage Vue on Trademe for $350, that's a pretty good deal for a station that sells for more than three times that much in NZ.

Wow, never seen that before. You could try the hedgehog-type ones if you can find a way to attach them, otherwise use something that people have suggested for dealing with leaves which is to cut the handle off a kitchen sieve and put it over the top. Apparently the effect on rainfall measurements is minimal, if you've got a miniscule amount of precipitation then it'll get caught by the sieve but otherwise it's not an issue.

Edited to add: From looking at the photo again it looks like the existing spikes are too short, the pigeons bodies are over the top of them, so get longer spikes?

You could put wires crosswise into the holes of the rods to have a grid dome over the rain collector. No guarantee they won't sit on it, but they generally don't like shiny metal as much as the plastic rim. Also, the rods that come with it are way too short. (edit: as neb already mentioned)

Sweet birds though you have to admire their precision landing ability.

.Maybe you can attach longer slightly more flexible spikes in between the short spikes.or get some shiny foil wrapping paper and cut ribbons of it to tie to the spikes so there is constant movement.
Although sitting beneath it together is also going to be an issue you might need to consider.
Water pistol also comes to mind but that’s going to add water to your weather.

Thanks for the suggestions. Currently considering two main options - (1) longer spikes (may not work if the birds fit between . push them aside), and/or (2) a loose, thin circumferential wire to make it more difficult for them to land on the edge of the rain gauge. Want to minimise any impact on the rain readings. The current spikes came with the weather station.

I haven't noticed any birds landing on the rain gauge today. They only occasionally hang out in this area. More there than usual yesterday, probably because of the storm. Will keep an eye out to see it becomes a problem. Had more problems with my previous weather station (still in place close by to compare readings). No spikes so the rain gauge was blocked a number of times by bird droppings, including yesterday, They also occasionally land on the weather vane and spin it around, and even on the cup anemometer! New station has an acoustic anemometer, so one problem less.

Eva888: Yes, they are nice birds (Barbary / ring neck doves) though we do have rather a lot of them here due to 'someone' feeding them.
