Which I think you nave now been told? $14.66 or if you do not use the kiwibank discount (which anyone can use once) it was $17.25. It was exactly the same cost for me which is not surprising as the packaging is standard.

Edit not the Youshop discount has been removed from the kiwibank site. not sure if it still will work.

D'Oh! THanks to you both - I had misread this
what I understand the YouShop cost isn't known until it's ready to ship.

and thought the Amazon shipping price was not specified until the item shipped, and so was asking about the total cost inc. Amazon's charges. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

Has anybody else had this issue?

Trying to place an order for the Paperwhite and cover, using my YouShop address, I got this message:

"Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Leather Cover, Onyx Black (does not fit Kindle or Kindle Touch) cannot be shipped to the selected address."

Yes it contains electronic components which amazon doesn't ship overseas. I have a friend sending one manually.

Yes, but I thought the whole point of services like YouShop was to get around restrictions like that by shipping to US addresses? It seems odd that they are happy to ship the Paperwhite itself to that Oregon address, but not the cover.

I have received a Paperwhite and its leather cover from Amazon via YouShop. If you put in your YouShop US address you shouldn't have any trouble - i.e. 'cannot be shipped to selected address' will not show up.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Very odd - I wonder why they won't ship one to my YouShop address, especially since they will ship the Paperwhite. It kind of makes YouShop pointless for me.

Dumb question - but are you sure your YouShop address is being used? i.e. when it says 'cannot ship'?

Not a dumb question at all, but yes it was - I nearly took a screenshot to post here, but decided against it out of longstanding privacy habits Laughing

Stranger still is that it is now not objecting to the use of that address at all. Some quirk in their ordering system obviously.

I ordered a kindle paperwhite on 20 October and it was clear at the time that the delivery estimate was Nov. 26, 2012 - Dec. 4, 2012.

So I was extremely surprised when I received an e-mail this morning saying it had been shipped early and providing me with a tracking number.  Looks like they are catching up with the demand.

Now just awaiting my YouShop email to pay for the delivery to NZ.

Sweet, hopefully mine will ship before estimate date December 12 - 22!

If you put the item in your basket and start the order process you can see what shipping is before actually buying it. I went with free shipping as although it is slower in my case as long as it arrived before mid November I was fine.

Since I'm ordering a Paperwhite, I'm going to give my old Kindle Keyboard to a friend. I want to include a gift card, since it can go in the same basket with the Paperwhite and the cover. Amazon won't ship a physical gift card to NZ, but does anyone know if they are accepted from NZ IPs? I don't mind including it in the YouShop basket, as long as I know my friend will be able to use it when it arrives.

I boguht a Paperwhite through TradeMe when I saw Amazon's delays. I paid way over the odds for it, but I am very happy with it, and it let me give away my Kindle keyboard.
