Even though you've already said you'll order the Ape one, I'll add that I have one. No complaints from me although only had it maybe a month. I use the Smart Life app to control it. I can turn it on and off, see the current temp and there's a range of temps you can set it to for a 'keep warm' function. And of course you can schedule it, so I think it'll suit your use case.
evilengineer:Sounds like you need a "Teasmade"
Hello 1970s! 😃
You can still get those, but you'd have to import them from the UK.
As a replacement, nothing beats a Zojirushi. Not the cheapest once you freight them in from Japan, but indespensable if you drink several cups of tea a day.
Edited to add: Should have added a link since Zojirushi probably isn't too well-known here, it's something like this. What they do is boil the water once and then use a fairly complex thermos-flask type container to keep it at temperature with minimal power consumption, so you get instant hot water at 17W/hour rather than a 2kW draw every time you want a cup.
Just noticed that they now also do a coffee maker, note that the instructions for the tea model are in CJKV while the coffee one is English and French. Probably sell about zero of those in Asia.
CokemonZ:My use case is to set a routine to boil so I can have a coffee when I wake up with less faffing around.
For coffee specifically, Bialetti make electric moka pots with timers that you can set to have fresh coffee whenever you want. Downside is you still have to faff around with setting up and cleaning out a moka pot.
Better to get a Tea Maid could have benefits all round

Hello 1970s! 😃
Think I'd still prefer a Wake N Bacon:

That's got to be the perfect way to wake up in the morning!
Shame the wife's a vegetarian. 😃

CokemonZ: Allright, thanks for that. Going to order the smart ape one.
Just don't go for the bored ape one, I've heard those get stolen a lot.
Got it. It's a little cheap looking and constructed, and has spaceship blue led's around it for some reason, but paired easily, and it's surprisingly fun telling google to boil the kettle.
Seems full powered, so nice and fast to boil a couple of cups.
I'll wait a couple of weeks before saying recommended but so far does what it says on the box.
For reference - it is Tuya and works with the tuya and smart life apps.
You cannot set hold temperatures natively through google integration but you can setup tap to run scenes in tuya and execute those through google to set a hold temperature.

Is your microwave excessively leaking when running? My old one would mess up the bluetooth speaker in the kitchen when running so I replaced it.
You might be right as it's a cheap Kmart microwave which we've had for a few years now and use several times throughout the day...hmm I see a replacement coming in the near future!
pulsta: Yeah I bought the smartape one as well.
Received it Thursday set it up with Alexa and all good until yesterday when it dropped off the network. No biggie, just one of those things that happens...AND it did it again this morning.
No idea why, as It's always on, as is the 2.4g network and I have at least a dozen smart devices connected with zero issues for months before having to troubleshoot.
Not a huge concern as at least the manual way still works 😁
It seems to be an issue for your setup. I haven't had that at all. In fact I've been pretty impressed how quickly it reconnects to the network after putting it back on it's base.
