I saw a couple of older threads, but the model referenced is no longer available.

Anyone got either of these, and are they any good?

My use case is to set a routine to boil so I can have a coffee when I wake up with less faffing around.

Till they make one that fills itself thru the base, and is smart enough to know if there is enough water to run, its pretty pointless IMO.

Still waiting for a plumbed in nespresso machine that can be automatically woken and pre-heated for my time saving needs.

Yeah - not perfect, but for the one scenario of a morning coffee happy to add to the bedtime routine add 300mls water to the jug.

There is this which I was also considering: Kogan 4L 2400W Instant Hot Water Dispenser

I have a Kogan smart jug. It's great!

I don't use it for schedules (which you can) but do use it in conjunction with Alexa (Alexa, turn the jug on).

So yeah, I highly recommend.

I got a jug from kmart for $25 and plugged it into a smart plug. Done. Just have to make sure you get one that you can have the jug switch ON without power. Easy.

You could use a smart plug and your existing kettle:

I have a couple of the above and they work well, including integration with Google Home

Current kettle goes on the gas stove so a purchase is required, and the mighty ape one is down to $65.

I do however have a couple of smart plugs around. Was a bit shady about putting 2000w sustained through them though......

Glad to hear the kogan jug is good. Looks more feature rich, so am kinda leaning that way, but saving 45 by getting the cheaper one.... That's a few coffees right there.

Given that you're still going to have to make the cup of tea/coffee by hand I don't really see how filling the kettle beforehand and waiting a couple of minutes for it to boil is much of a problem.

If you really want the coffee ready when you walk into the kitchen why not just get an old school drip-drip type filter coffee machine and attach that to the aforementioned $25 smart plug?

I'd probably keep forgetting to change the filter paper and coffee grounds before bedtime, so no good for me.

I have recently changed hours, and now start at 5am (WFH). I'm essentially trying to get the time from alarm going off to being at my desk down to as small a time as possible to eke out every second of sleep. 5 minutes a day saved is 1/2 an hour a week.

I am even considering having the kettle in my home office so I don't have to go the whole way upstairs.

Probably should add a catheter as well, as going to the loo is TIME
