OMGpjay: Gah, I go to buy and I'm way late to the party. "Coming soon" on the site.

If anyone wants to sell their matte black steel for whatever reason, I'm buying.

I have sent you a private message.

Ordered: 20 February
Estimated shipping date: 15 April
Actual arrival date: 11 April

USD$25 discount for "late" delivery added a few weeks ago
I expected that it would be couriered, however it was sent by normal post and instead of being sent to my work it was redirected to my work's PO Box!

I need to now find a small enough mini screwdriver to change the strap from the leather strap to the black matte steel strap!

I got four days of battery with back-light on when "motion" mode was on and five days with back-light on "button press only"

I just received my black matte pebble steel two days ago. ordered on March 19 so just over a month.

So far I have just been trying out watch faces and a few apps. Have had it crash on me a few times with a couple of apps.

What are some 'must have' apps or watch faces I should look for?

I also had a thought, would anyone else be interested in viewing train timetables or at least the next train on a given line/direction in Wellington specifically on their Pebble?

My favorite watchface at the moment is "Modern", another good one is "Text Watch" which really stands out from what you would have on a regular watch.

I also really like the "Pebble cards", which would make showing next train etc. info really easy. I use it to have my weather station data easily available (Netatmo) and to check for battery status, sun up/down, and other such important data :)

I would as whenever I travel to Wellington for work or personal it often involves catching the train.

Wooo I've joined the Pebble Steel club. I love it at face value, even if it is smaller than the OG pebble.

Any recommendations for Apps I "need"?

I actually found an app that sort of does what I want, it's called Next Transit and has a pebble watch app with and without an Android companion app. Currently only shows the next public transport option but the developer says he is updating it to show up to 5.

Apps:

  • Canvas for pebble is pretty amazing, lets you build custom watch faces on your device. (not sure if it's iOS as well since I use Android)
  • PebbleApps lets you reply to SMS with canned messages, has weather forecast, calendar/agenda, Any.Do tasks, find my phone
  • Twebble - twitter for pebble

Watchfaces:

  • Futura Weather
  • Agenda
  • Metrowatch
  • Real Weather
  • Modern
  • Maurice
  • YWeather
Also I recommend getting Pebble Notifier for Android if you can.

I have also been looking into fitness/sleep trackers but so far haven't had any luck with the ones that are available.

Shameless plug, but the DemoPad Companion App is awesome (we are a certified installer for the DemoPad Control software).  Use your Pebble to turn your TV on and change your Sky TV channels, or even open your front door.....plus much much more :)

The DemoPad control App for iDevices is NZ$49 from the App store and you can use IP to IR controllers like the Global Cache iTach units, ranging in price from $235-$300 depending on the NZ site you check out.

So far I've got Pebble notifier, pebble dialler and Intervals (timer app).

I tried out Glance, didn't like it - too much configuration, maybe I'll try it again in the future. Tried out a few other things too just from Googling recommendations but many didn't function as I'd like.

Canvas sounds fun, I'll have a play with that. DemoPad sounds expensive, and not a function I need right now.

Would anyone know of a good app that does what Glance does - in the sense of showing notifications as simple message icons or similar? I'd love a watch face, that integrates message icons to show I have a txt or an email etc.. As I receive a lot of emails but don't want to check every single one.

Also any apps that remove the notification from my phone after I've viewed it on the Pebble? Or even mark an email or txt as read after I've viewed it on the Pebble?

In terms of viewing message icons etc there are a bunch of watch faces in Canvas that do that, also a normal watchface called Pebble Instant that might do what you want.

In terms of removing notifications after you have viewed them on the pebble, you could try this one: http://forums.getpebble.com/discussion/8053/android-notification-center-for-pebble-ultimate-notification-replacement

Yeah, I've been perusing the watchfaces to try find something I'm after. Gave canvas a go but got frustrated after around 10 minutes, so canned that.

I did find this which I thought was worth it for the giggle factor:
