I decided to go with the Ring 2 instead of the Ring Pro for the sole reason that it can still be used as a general doorbell in the event of internet outage as I plan to hardwire it to a general doorbell chime. I really wanted to go for the Ring Pro as it's a sleeker design and the custom area motion detection. But only being able to use their Ring Chime as a Chime put me off.

I installed a Ring Doorbell V2 and Chime unit today.

Just wanted to see if any other users are also getting a loud tone at around 10kHz from most of the chime alert sounds. It is very annoying and my teenage sons have to cover their ears as it's quite disturbing for them.

Downloaded a spectrum analyzer to measure it.

Contacted Ring and they going to send me another Chime unit.

We have a chime here and a teenager daughter - no complaints about the noise - yet.

I wish they allow integration with Google home hub so I can view who is at door when someone rings on Google home hub etc

A quick search linked to this (not directly to Google Home Hub but could give some pointers).

I have an Amazon Fire TV and I have my Ring Doorbell and Ring Spotlight linked to my account and I can watch those video streams on my TV.

All those articles are basically showing same instructions with replaced app on each occasion.

If you go to Google home add device there is no ring as a linked option.

I don't use any amazon products to make it work on any device unfortunately.

I have two ring floodlight cams and one doorbell waiting for this to be allowed so I can setup all my devices linked.

The only issue I've had with my Ring is that it didn't like my Netgear Orbi mesh wifi. However, a factory reset seemed to sort that out. Sometimes there's a bit of a lag but it's definitely useful.

Have Ring Pro installed at our place, hardwired and coupled with the Chime Pro. Decent video quality and so far had to power reset it once as it simply dropped off the WIFI.

Motion detection is great and app allows for customization via "motion zones" which in my experience works pretty well. Connects via 5 Ghz WiFi so relatively fast, around 1 second delay for the chime to activate after doorbell pressed.

I use IFTTT to link the doorbell to my LIFX lights and while I did notice the said delays before; of late it seems instantaneous. On a side note, if you use Amazon Echo, you can set up Alexa to notify you via a sound notification so don't need multiple Ring chimes or none at all - this is something I realized recently and have found it to be very convenient.

Lastly, I read about Stringify on this thread but when I went to install it, seems they have pulled the app from the store? (iOS user here)

Website suggests they are shutting down the app and services

Overall I am very satisfied with it's performance and features. Would definitely recommend the Pro over the other models, although each has its pros & con depending on how you see it :)

App is decent and easy to setup & use.

I'm hoping the feature to unlock a linked digital deadlock from within the Ring app will be available here soon too. My next big wish for Ring is to produce an alternative for a gate station like Doorbird with an integrated keypad (or rfid tag reader) for entry plus that ability to unlock the gate when guests arrive (ideally works with the electromagnetic locking many gates have too). It might be a more niche use hence the lack of many innovative solutions beyond SIP video intercoms currently available... but I'll keep wishing.

Oh dear. Received the courier package today. All it contained was the clip in NZ power adapter.

Hi,

Does your Amazon Fire TV and Spotlight immediately show the video feed live when someone rings the doorbell or do you have to ask for it or push a button.

I am asking because today there is a daily deal on PBTech for Amazon Fire HD8 here for $99. I wonder if I can use that as a Monitor on a wall where people can see who is at front door when it rings automatically.

Thanks

@maxeon no, I have to ask my Fire TV to show it. It won't automatically show on the device.
