This update has made my LG G Watch R virtually obsolete (given that voice control rarely works). Fantastic upgrade.

I love the look of the LG watch R and was thinking about it for next year, but then pebble did this, and *bam* all happy again! AND I keep my awesome battery life! :D

$149 USD for a Pebble Steel plus postage. Is that a good deal?

Well I dived in and bought at that price.  Bought the matte black and added the metal strap.

I'm not sure how long it will take to get here, I clicked on the 3-5 day delivery option, the $25 was added to the shopping cart , however the free delivery option was listed on the order confirmation and the $25 was missing from the price list on the confirmation.  Perhaps the 3-5 day option is only available in the US.

Will have to see how well it works with the N9 using the Rockwatch app.  Otherwise it might end up on Trade Me.

Workmate used the "slow" free shipping option and it took about 2 1/2 weeks to turn up. I used the DHL option and it took about 1 week. Both ordered when they had the black friday sale.

Mine has been sent DHL even though I don't appear to have been charged for the Courier option. From the tracking info it's already in Auckland. May be delivery tomorrow.  If so something to play with over the New Year.

What was the Black Friday price?

My Steel arrived today complete with the fancy packaging. Very nicely presented.

I'm using it on my N9 the SMS and call notifications work well but I have a major problem. The time displayed doesn't always show the correct time.  I can set it manually but when I select "set watch date from phone" from within Rockwatch it displays UTC.

Any ideas?

I ordered my Pebble Steel (black) last year around June.

I find the Misfit app to be handy (shows how lazy I am some days).

My current vavorite watchface is "Velocity".
I kinda like "pebble Plus".

I have others in the list, but Velocity has many people asking me where they can get the watch. :-)

I have written my own watch face, but it hasn't been published yet, more because I lost interest because I just can't figure out how to do some stuff.

I love this watch, it's handy in so many ways, it has prevented me leaving my phone at work or un attended in the car on a number of occasions.

Some of the weather based apps talk too much and prevent me from having a decent 5+ day battery life.

Thought about silver, but don't regret the black, looks more modern this way.

I run iOS, never had any major issues.

Always remember that not all watchfaces are created equally (some are just aweful and crash a lot!).

Well done Team Pebble!

Selling for $229 AUD at Australian Dick Smith's!

http://www.dicksmith.com.au/health-fitness/pebble-steel-smart-watch-for-ios-android-black-matte-dsau-se5059

Wish it were that easy to get one here!

I have been reading up and super keen to get my hands on a Steel, leaning towards brushed, can some of you tell me what turned you off it towards the black matte?

Once you order off the site $199USD = about $260 NZ and you have a foreign warranty and possible customs charges...

The black matte is perfect, way better than the silver in my opinion!
Warranty was honoured with a full replacement when I had a problem with it - really nice people to deal with over email!
I never had a problem with customs charges either.

I chose the Matt black because all of my metal watches in the past had been chrome and I felt I wanted something 'nicer' to look at for a change.

I still have a very nice dress watch I bought 8 years ago, but I have never worn it since I got the Pebble Steel.

If you like the Chrome look go for it, it's the internals of the watch you're after!

A bit off topic, but I wanted to echo this point.  I had a problem with my Pebble Steel resetting every 24hrs or so after I'd had it a while (would get a little stuck in an firmware upgrade loop too).  After some back and forth diagnosing and attempting to fix the Pebble Team sent a full replacement at no extra cost to me.  Even said "keep the original".  They were great to deal with.

I'm getting more time to play with the Pebble now.

So far I'm very happy.  I had a small hiccup in the first week where I had an issue re installing the firmware after recovery mode was used. I contacted Pebble by email, they were very helpful. Much better than I had expected.

The app for the N9 is really set up for version 1 firmware and not the version 2 firmware (2.8) I'm using but having said that it still works well with the notifications which are primarily what I want.

Yesterday I installed "Sleeper". I've only tried it for one night, so far it seems to work OK.  What other apps like this are Pebble owners using?

I have been absolutely loving mine so far.

Using this app on phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/smart-unlock/app-smart-unlock-xda-version-skip-t2974396 to bypass lock screen while pebble is connected.

This allows you to trigger lots of cool stuff with Pebble Tasker. I so far only have a button that can trigger google now voice commands while my phone is in my pocket and I talk into my Bluetooth headphones.

Apart from that I have been enjoying the glance SMS functions as well as the Wear reply features in the beta.

Got misfit to track steps and sleep, the sleep part doesnt seem to work yet. Loving trying out all different watchfaces. I'm thinking of trying to make one soon or make an NZ bus app.

Apart from that I have dabbled with Pandora and Evernote but haven't got fully into it yet!
