I can no longer find anything when searching for Allterco, and the direct link by SirHumphreyAppleby no longer works. Does anyone know what's going on or have a copy of the certificate for the 1PM? I'm about to book my sparky to come install a few.

I downloaded the PDFs for both the Shelly 1 and Shelly 1PM, and can email those to anyone who needs them.

I had some questions if anyone would like to share their thoughts and experience:

- For people who have received Shelly 1/1PM, what do you think of them? I read mixed reviews about the hardware (like this one).

- I'd like to use them behind some lightswitches, and ideally look to connect to Home Assistant (once I learn how to get that operating!). Does anyone have any good touchpanel-type switches - I think these may be called momentary switches? In my opinion the best experience will be to move away from the normal toggle lightswitches, since these could get out of sync if the switch is also controlled by app or automations, so I'm keen to find some good touch switches.

- Re the Shelly RGBW2, do we need these to be certified before we can use them?

I haven't read the full review, but it appears from the conclusion that the main complaint is the installation process. The Shelly 1PM is easier to install, with fewer wires, but less flexible as the switch is tied to mains power. For retrofitting applications, that's not an issue. If I weren't retrofitting, the Shelly is not the solution I would be going for (DIY instead).

- I'd like to use them behind some lightswitches, and ideally look to connect to Home Assistant (once I learn how to get that operating!). I live with someone who always goes to bed at night with both switches in the 'off' position. Two-way switches don't bother me; up, down, don't care. A single switch around the wrong way would annoy me though.

PDL has momentary 'normal' switches and push-button switches for their 600 Series. I expect the newer (but less attractive) Iconic range would also have similar options.

I think the hardware is fine - compared to Sonoff Mini, Shelly 1/1PM is more solid, has bigger and sturdier terminals. 2.5mm cable fits but is a bit tricky. The 1PM has a different terminal arrangement which arguably fixes the criticisms of that reviewer by avoiding the need to split the active cable as much.

RGBW2 doesn't need certification if you are only using 12 volts. I put my in boxes similar to below with a 2.5 mm male plug for the 12 volt transformer to plug into (some are 2.5 some are 2.1 so check first)

I have hooked the Shelly 1's up to Home Assistant with the HACS extension and they are rock solid. I have assigned static IP addresses for the Shelly's. I suspect the issues that most people have on the Shelly support website are around routers. Unifi here so no problems there....

I am going to run PDL Iconic momentary switches with the Dimmers when they are certified. The Shelly 1's are just hooked up to the old PDL slimline standard switches and they end up the wrong orientation sometimes but the only one moaning is the teenager.

Which momentary switch part number are you going for? I'm currently installing all new Iconic in a build. Not sure how much of an upgrade cost that would be...

Looks like it's a switch rather than a button - see here, mentions having rocker actuation. Like you, I think I'll make do for the price!

Yes. It's a rocker switch. I got the LED version. It can be held down for dimming.

A bit of a shame but beggars can't be choosers and I love the look of the Iconic.

I may purchase one soon and see what I can conjure up in terms of making it more of a button. But not the end of the world.

Thanks for all your help. I've just ordered a second lot of Shellys (despite my first lot having not arrived yet) to put throughout the house when we renovate soon.

It would probably depend on the price. I'm happy to pay a bit more for locally supplied products but there's a tipping point for when it's better to buy from overseas for less money and deal with the lack of CGA and have an extended wait time for getting the products.

My Shelly 1PMs have been installed now and work great with HA, I've just ordered another 4 1PMs and 4 dimmers, hopefully they'll have NZ certification by the time they arrive.
