Below are some new and an fairly old camera that Dahua have introduced. All 3 are brilliant. All 3 have micro sd card slot for recording. I recommend adding a micro sd card slot as a secondary backup but set it to record in motion detection.

This is a vandal proof dome camera. The night recording with it's built in illuminators is top notch. It's on the expensive side $330 odd but it's really really good.

I would personally not buy the IPC-HDB3200C anymore since it's not as good as the above 3 when it comes to night recording unless you have external lighting source else it's brilliant in day and evening recording.

Another great camera below. In the expensive side. $340 odd but for indoors for night, day and evening recording, it's brilliant.

Also for non-geeky people and for folks who want something easy to setup to record, I recommend the below NVR which has 4 ports built in for PoE.

If you want to record the footage onto a PC via PSS then that's fine as well or use something like the Surveillance station on the Synology NAS then that works great too.

If you need a good PoE switch for that then I recommend the below.

Thanks @billgates! Does this mean you are very happy with the new 1.3megapixel cameras (2100 series) compared with the 2mp mentioned previously in this topic - spec wise look similar except MP rating? Just followed your links and the 3mp look the flash - but do agree price is high.

Any images you could link?

Hi guys,

This topic was a great read and it looks like a few of you are running these Dahua cameras with the Synology NAS which is the combo that I have. Thanks for all the great info so far.

I have a couple of questions for those other users who have been using the Synology SS software on DSM and since such subjects had been a core part of the conversation thus far I thought I'd add them here rather than starting a new topic. Hope you don't mind.

By way of background, I picked up a couple fo the Dahua cameras for testing purposes, ie the HFW3200CP & IPC-HFW2100P (1.3mp and 2mp) models. Both work fine with the Synology SS software using the ONVIF type selection however SS refuses to allow camera side movement detection and insists on doing it on the NAS. Normally I wouldn't mind as the SS software is great for this and has a much lower false detect rate than the movement detect built into any camera that I have yet tried, but these HD cameras seem to chew through a fair bit of the NAS's CPU when detection is setup on SS rather than the camera. I haven't shelled out of the extra SS licenses yet so the above is based on testing one of the cameras at a time and I dread to see how heavily pegged the CPU will be if I add more cameras. The testing is intended to determine if the overall Synology / Dahua combo works well enough to justify further investment in 6-10 cameras and also if it was worth the extra investment in the 2mp over the 1.3mp camera models.

Since the Dahuas are capable of movement detection I've been trying to figure out exactly what criteria the Synology SS uses to determine if movement detect can be outsourced to the camera. I've been trying to set the camera up in SS as "Custom" rather than "ONVIF" to see if SS would allow camera side detection but can't find the source path for either the MJPEG or H.264 video stream on these Dahuas. I've found the following rtsp string on the web but can't figure out which if any part of it is the source path uses by SS "rtsp://admin:admin@ip/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=1". With other cameras the source path has been something simple like "/video" etc. I assume that SS builds its own rtsp string based on the various fields that are entered into the config in SS.

Does anybody know how to get SS to do camera side detection with the Dahuas ?
Is the above URL even relevant to the video source path required by software like SS ?
Has anybody got multiple HD IP cameras working on SS and how is the NAS performing CPU wise ?

Its great to know that there are other people out there with the same kit. Really hope somebody understands how this particular part of the puzzel hangs together and would appreciate any insight you guys can provide.

What model of Synology do you have as this makes a big difference? I haven't been able to get my Dahua's to run natively in SS either and have requested that Synology add support but until then I think ONVIF is the only option.

RS820+, DS223, CoreELEC on Odroid N2+, 3 x Echo Dot & 7 x Google Homes connected to Home Assistant on Beelink SEi12.

Hi guys,

Have just ordered one of the Dahuas for my parents place in conjunction with BlueIris software.

Have any of you identified a source for firmware on the Dahua Cameras? Seeing as in NZ our only way of ordering them is typically through an e-commerce site like AliExpress, Dahua does not supply that firmware directly on their site.

If anyone has a line on the latest firmware, specifically the IPC-HDW2100P I would be much obliged.

I am soon going sell Dahua cameras and NVR's in NZ. Have some stock with me already. 2 year warranty will be provided with local NZ support. Yes, I have acquired a security license with Ministry of Justice as well. :-)

Will get my hands on regular firmware updates soon for Dahua devices.

No website (yet). Going to target trademe for online and get in touch with a whole lot of CCTV installers in the country for wholesale.

I have a lot of IPC-HFW2100 - 3.6mm lens in stock and few NVR-3208. Selling PoE and Digial based CCTV only. Have ZyXel PoE switches and indivudal PoE injectors for someone that only wants a single camera covering the drive etc and wants to use a NAS or PC running free supplied PSS software to do the recording.

Doing demo recordings atm of day and night environment at home to show people and testing hdd capacity with right bitrate, fps and video quality before going all out in public.
