I've been playing with the Pebble Watch Pro app on Windows phone. This allows me to change the firmware and add some faces and Apps that I cannot do with the Rockwatch app on my N9. However while it allows me to load apps on the version 2 software on the Pebble it also makes me realise how much more capable the N9 is as a phone.

Rockwatch happily runs in the background no matter what app is active on the N9 whereas on the 920 with WP8 as soon as Pebble Watch Pro isn't on the "active" screen, in other words you are using another app the phone disconnects from the Pebble making using the Pebble on a Windows phone almost useless.

Is anyone using a Pebble with Windows Phone? Have I got something wrong in the settings?

At this point I'm thinking of taking a crash course in QT and attempting to update Rockwatch to make full use of Version 2 firmware on the Pebble with the N9.

Windows Phone doesn't run apps in the background. They're "frozen" and a tombstone is created. Only some special apps can run in the background and even so you can control them in Battery Saver.

Also some tasks can only run for a limited time and for some period before being terminated. It's actually a pain for people developing navigation or push messaging systems.

That's pretty well what I'd been able to find out. It's certainly a bit limiting for some apps  It must put off some developers from actually even bothering with WP.

Looks like it's Python I need to be getting familiar with for Rockwatch.  It's been years since I did anything remotely like this, it could be quite an education. laughing
