Mitsubishi have recently released a WiFi heat pump controller. Their new heat pumps have them built in but you can retro fit the wireless adapter to SOME existing models. I just fitted one to my heat pump on Monday. These allow you to FULLY control your heat pump from anywhere via an Android or iOS app. You can set all sorts of rules from the app i.e. if room drops below x temp then switch on heat pump. I am thoroughly impressed and would recommend these to anybody. I turned the heat pump on 1 hour before I came home today and returned to a warm house. Commands can take up to a minute to happen as they go to Mitsubishi's servers first, it's not a remote control replacement.
Most of the details are on Mitsubishi's site. I have done a bit of an FAQ below incase anybody needs more info. Sorry I didn't take pics of the install but I found a good guide online and I'll post the link.
How much are they?
RRP is $399 - I got mine a lot cheaper due to mitsubishi making an error with the price they quoted me, to their credit they rang me and honoured the price.
Where can I get one?
Apparently they are flying of the shelfs and stock is limited. Mitsubishi sent mine to Smiths City who are selling them.
How much does install cost?
I was quoted between $130 and $200 for a professional installation.
Can I install it myself?
Yes.I did. Mitsubishi say no and recommend a professional installer and include an extremely vague install guide with the adapter but as I say I fitted my own. You'll need to be able to open your heat pump right up and access the control board. Mine took a good while but that was largely due to the location of my heat pump and not having much room to work. The install guide I followed is here http://cleanenergywonk.com/tag/heat-pump/
I hope this helps anybody out who is thinking of installing one. If anybody has any questions I can help with just fire away..........cheers.
