Ah .. that's why Kindles have been like unobtainium! :-)

Despite the stupid eye wateringly expensive price tag, I'd still buy the Oasis, simply because of the physical buttons. I've owned most generations of Kindle since the very first and was *not* happy when they removed the buttons.

Though I would say, why you'd buy a $269 model when the next model up with significantly improved specs is $60 more is beyond me. If you can afford $270, then it is probably worth saving for the higher spec model simply on IPX8 alone.

Bigger screen with smaller bezel, better lighting, USB-C, control of color temp, all in all it sounds good. Not worth upgrading IMHO, but worth getting next time. I do like the Kindle, but I will consider Kobo next time as I source books from all over, rarely from Amazon, so there's no huge advantage. I find I don't need hardware buttons.

I'm on my second paperwhite, the first lasted 3-4 years before the power button stopped work, the new one I scratched the screen within two weeks :( That's annoying but only in some types of light. 

My Kindle is still going but the battery life is now a lot shorter than before - but it is at least five or six years old.

Battery life down from 2 months to two weeks? My old one did the same after a few years, plus the power button failed. The new ones are nicer, bit faster, better lighting, better resolution. Use camelcamel get price alerts :)

Agree. I read about 120 books last year on my kindle. A lot of the modern authors tend to release more, smaller books to increase revenue as opposed to traditional larger novels.

Lighter, larger, easier to hold, better screen for reading which is front lit rather than backlit. They don't emit as much blue light so they're much better to read at night. Phones emit blue light which suppresses melatonin production, making it more difficult to get tired / get to sleep.

Sounds interesting.  The other week i ordered the  Amazon Kindle Oasis Wi-Fi (32 GB) Graphite $499  for my wife   which I believe is on the courier for delivery now .  I may have bought her this one if it had been arounf
