alasta:corksta:alasta:I will probably replace my 6S+ with an 8+, but I agree with the earlier posts that the lack of a 128Gb option is disappointing. I was thinking that 64Gb might be enough considering that I have my music and photos in iCloud, but I'm unclear as to whether iCloud photo library retains all photos locally on the device as well as in the cloud? This device needs to last me two years, so I may have to go with the 256Gb to be safe.
The concern I have with the X - aside from the obscene price - is that it would be extremely difficult to physically handle it without accidentally touching the display. That would drive me mad.
If you choose optimised storage in settings then it downloads them until your device starts to get low on storage then it will remove them to make room. If you choose download originals then all photos are stored locally and you have to manage the storage.
How do you manage the storage? There doesn't appear to be any way to delete photos off the device locally without also deleting them from the iCloud Photo Library.
You don't delete them, iOS sorts it out itself when space is needed.
Originals get uploaded to iCloud and a thumbnail is left on the device for previewing.
The original is downloaded again if you try to view the full photo again.
