Damn, I was waiting for the band to kick in! Do you have any more with the full band playing?

Nice! I may have to borrow my wifes iPhone 4 for the Paramore (my daughter's first real concert) and Metallica concerts in October. How big was the original 720p version of that file?

File was about 350mb - I chopped about 30sec from it, for the youtube version.  Borrow the phone, they won't let you in with a serious camera and this iphone does almost as good a job.  Cheers for your comments

Yeah I got a few.  We were front row of the top bit at Logan Campbell, Jared appear in the sound pit just below as, so got some pretty good video.  I have a couple of others of the full band on stage.  I can flick them your way if your interested.

Thanks for the info. We purchased a cheap Samsung digital camera on the weekend, which is probably small enough to fit in my pocket undetected, but after seeing your footage I think using that will definitely be Plan B. I'm hoping by October that my wife's phone would've lost that new car smell, and permission to take it will be granted :-)

Phone video certainly has come a long way from my Motorola Razr V3x. I tried taking footage at the Iron Maiden concert, but the video is terrible with discernable images only possible if focused on the big screen at the side of the stage, and calling the sound terrible would be overstating its quality by quite a wide margin. :-)

Just an update on my experiences - I had 2 dropped calls in around central Auckland but also had something far more annoying - the phone has hung up 3 calls so far thanks to the overly sensitive screen sensor.

Everything else on this phone is impressive but it is slightly disconcerting, as a person who has had all iphone versions, to now have one that has gotten worse at being a phone.

Lets hope that 4.1 does indeed fix the sensor as has been reported.

Vodafone or XT?

I often had calls drop on my 3GS in Central Auckland when I was on Vodafone. I think it was the dropping back to 2g all the time

Voda, driving down Queen St. Could have been the other end. I'm far more concerned about the sensor and hanging up issue.

On the speaker phone, in a mount while sitting at the lights. No holding at all.

nudge: Loving it.  I was FIRST in the queue at Glenfield and was out of there with the new phone by 12.06.

Of course the screen is good, most of us know that.

GPS is incredible compared to 3g.  Previously could arrive at destination before it locked on the satellites.  Now it is instantaneous, and incredibly accurate, with the gyro/compass it know which was you are facing.  I have the Tom Tom app and its as good as a dedicated unit.

Videos are great in 720p, but the best thing is the mic and sound quality.  I went the Thirty Seconds to Mars concert last night and can honestly say scored what appears to be the best video on youtube of the NZ concert.

Check it out, I had to reduce it 480 otherwise it would take 3 hours to upload, rotated the image, and zoomed in a couple of times, which caused some pixelation, - in 720p it is much better - But the sound is all original and pretty darn good for a phone.

When you buy Tom Tom via iTunes can you sync it to two iPhones?

Cheers, I use just the phone, mounted to the windscreen.  I hook it into a harman Kardon stereo thing, "drive n play" I think it's called, which enable me to use a joystick style remote to control the music, seperate led display for the playlists, artist and music etc, while the iphone displays the maps.  Music and navigation plays throught the car stereo, music dims while driving instructions are given by "Katrina" - sexy British chick who tells me I'm a racing car driver and to do lots of u-turns.

Yeah I think so.  I am not completely down with the rules, but I brought all my apps (including TomTom) a while ago, on my 3g and synced etc.
Then got the iPhone4 and synced all the same apps to the new phone.  Not a prob.  In fact I use my laptop to sync to my phone with my music etc and the Mrs got the old 3g on the desktop, syncing the same apps and different music.
I think the key is to use the same Itunes account.  A mate told me this is actually allowed as Apple have a 2 phone policy thing.

that was for purchase of phone...

I have some apps sync'ed to more than 2 devices  (eg 2 iPhones and an iPad)

edit: yes using the same iTMS account means you do not nee to repurchase

I noticed this so many times. Vodafone kept dropping 3G so often, in downtown, just outisde, suburbs etc. i hardly ever saw the 3G up on my phone.

Vodafone 3g is crap no doubt. period.
