scottjpalmer: I had not one issue right through the whole process.
Notifications are good, the seamlessness of iMessage is great, all good here.
jonherries: The ability to set an APN seems to have been removed.

This concerns me. Have any 2degrees users upgraded successfully or are APN settings only available for Telecom/Vodafone?

Lizard1977: I'm wondering about iMessage. I've got an iPhone, an iPod touch, and my wife has an iPad (wifi only), and we're all logged in using the same Apple ID for purchases from the Apple Store. As I understand it, iMessage uses the Apple ID to identify a person on iMessage (effectively treating it like email, it seems, but without going through a mail server), so if multiple devices use the same Apple ID, then it kind of butchers iMessage. Am I right, or have I missed something?

simple logic.
wellygary: Given the current apparent rush to do iOS 5 upgrades and the possibly flakiness of Apple servers and the like, I would treat the transfer and iOS upgrade as two separate distinct events,
Backup your Ipad and restore your Apps/Photos etc onto the Ipad2 ala this
http://www.macworld.com/article/158497/2011/03/migrating_from_an_old_ipad.html
Then deal with the iOS 5 upgrade of either/both devices,
Sure you might end up spending a bit more time doing it this way, but the last thing you want is for something to go phut in the middle of the process and you lose any data.
The fewer things you are juggling at once, the less likely anything will get dropped.
