TreeCrusher: Well I went in last night and bribed the vodafone guy. When I got there at 12 today I went straight to the front of the line and picked up my 2 new iPhone 4's

Then someone should be sacked! ?

What ever. I got my phones without waiting. Did you?

I guarantee this is noob BS

I'm about to get my iPhone, without bribery, without queuing, without leaving the house, without a contract. Beat that!

I am talking about net numbers. Vodafone New Zealand lost 25,000 mobile connections, after counting IN and OUT.

According to the end of quarter results posted by Vodafone Group PLC, Vodafone New Zealand had 2,504k mobile connections and at the end of the quarter they had 2,479k. These customers moved to another network or let their prepay connections lapse.

It doesn't negate the fact that telecom lost numbers and vodafone gained them due to the bad PR around their crap service at the time.

Which is most likley going to happen again, but otherway around.

the only one to really win out of this is 2 degrees.  And like you say, vodafone lost 25k connetions, they need everything they can get.

Not even thinking of Telecom, but since you want numbers and you mention 2degrees... About 80k customers on 2degrees are ported numbers. Note we are not talking people who simply left their prepay die - talking about active Telecom and Vodafone numbers ported over to 2degrees.

Of those, the majority are Vodafone. Probably because it would be easier for them to port to 2degrees without necessarily having to buy a new handset (which is the case if coming from the old Telecom CDMA network).

But at the end of the day it doesn't matter who sent more customers to Vodafone, the net balance is that Vodafone ended with 25k less customers, even with those people moving to their service.

mattbush: still uses vodafone network tho doesnt it?

2degrees has its own network in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown. Plans are being made for Hamilton and Tauranga. Outside these areas 2degrees customers ROAM on Vodafone network.

It's very different than Orcon, for example, which has no network infrastructure at all and completely uses the Vodafone network.
