The only issue is, I see the Canada model lacks LTE band 28 which appears to be in use by Spark and Vodafone. Is this a major issue?

2degrees use Band 28 also. The phone would work on 3G ok in NZ but you will find 4G coverage more limited to metro areas.

If you have a look at https://gis.geek.nz it will have a map of all NZ towers and you can see which frequencies are used at each site to give you an idea.

Little bit gutted by this. Last year's iphone X has band 28. It would have been nice to save >$300 by getting one here. Now gonna have to wait till I get back, as Apple obviously won't deliver from NZ to Canada :-)

Ordered a 4 series watch, delivers 21st. Will wait till I hold a XS Max before I pull the trigger on that. I have an X so no great hurry to upgrade.

They don’t send email confirmations until you get the courier tracking number the day before (so Thursday in this instance). That’s how it was with the X last year anyway!

Ordered a XS to replace my ageing 6. Will get the battery replaced and it will replace my son's 5. I'd decided to replace this time around regardless. It is an awful amount of money to spend, but my phone is with me almost every minute of the the day - I can't think of any other item I have such close relationship with. I'm not based in an office, and use email, messaging, web browser, calendar and notes dozens of times a day. It's almost always the first thing I pick up in the morning and the last thing I put down before I go to bed. So in that context - $1 spent for every minute of usage - I'd say it's actually pretty reasonable.

I'd never pre-order through 2degrees online because as someone else has already said, you don't get told when you're getting it until it ships and they send the tracking information. Doing it in-store or through telesales is the better way to go because they know exactly what their launch day allocation is and can tell you if you're going to get it Day 1 or not because they'll be able to see what has already been taken.

I'm one of those people that likes to know what's going on at all times with things like this, so being left in the dark is a no-go for me.

I do agree that the lack of communication between ordering and receiving the phone is very lacklustre. You can always phone 2degrees or message them on Facebook to get an update on your order status but would be great if that wasn’t the only way!

Pre-ordered a XS max 256gb in gold .... thought may as well go gold such a maximally excessively priced phone.
Thought long and hard about the 512gb option as the family iPad Pro uses that option usage is only around 100gb and its taken since the 5s to get that I think I’d never reach 256gb let alone 512gb in the life of the phone.
Could not finish the online order process due the to online system not excepting the number I wanted it charged against.
Rung spark *123 got it sorted and was offered a plan that was not offered on the form ;) ;)
Received no communication yet but looking back that was same as last year with the X.
Phones are then going to play musical chairs though the family with my son getting his first phone a 7 plus!
Roll on the 21st.

I'm quite surprised by how much is still in stock. I remember preordering the iPhone 6 and there were 4-6 week shipping estimates on some models. This year, it's only pushed back by a few days to two weeks - and that is for the Max models. The regular Xs are all still shipping on 21st.

Nah. They get their allocation as a company, then they spread it out to x units for online, y units for telesales and z units for stores - then the stores allocation is divided among the number of stores they actually have. So even if for example telesales has run out of their launch day allocation, some stores may still have launch stock available - purely because no-one has walked in yet wanting one.

The pre-order allocation (if there is any left) is only re-allocated once the devices are released to start reducing the backorders.

I would guess such a plan would be around $20 NZD. Just converting from USD to NZD for the plans that are available in the US we are at $15 NZD, and then you can add GST and some overhead, and you are quickly at $20 NZD.

UK plans are around £5 including their version of GST. Equals about $10 NZ.

Also, Vodafone NZ only charges $10 to add another device (like a cellular iPad) to your mobile account - presumably a Watch would be the same or cheaper.

Just to put these prices into perspective: You can buy a brand new Apple Macbook 256Gb for less than the 256Gb iPhone Xs Max. Think about that!

The XR, on the other hand, is "almost" reasonably compared to what an 8 Plus used to cost.
