freitasm: One word: fascinating... If you want a companion device for your computing needs/wants, this might be it. Rated BUY: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=8732

Thanks for the good concise review without the information overload that I've been seeing in a lot of other reviews online.

As an existing iPhone user I'm guessing that I may not find the iPad as exciting as someone who is relatively inexperienced with this particular user interface, but nevertheless I'm starting to become a lot more enthused by this device than I was during the original launch event.

Had a go on an iPad today:

Heavier and smaller than I thought it'd be
Gorgeous screen
Very quick opening apps and smoooooooth transitions all over the place
Easy to view photos
Maps look amazing
On-screen keyboard is fine, in my first rushed sentence only 1 letter was mis-typed (operator error?)

I want one....hurry up Aussie launch-date!

:)

My order was placed on the 3rd April as well.
Around the time of the US release.
Dread to think what the cue is now !!

I ordered a 32Gb wifi model through eBay; paid for it on March 18, it was shipped March 20 and arrived March 27!! Didn't even get stung for GST or duty through customs. Perhaps a slightly dodgy way to go not buying from an official store but it's working fine and I've registered it now through iTunes. Paid $840 Aussie dollars for it and I guess they will only get cheaper as time goes on...

The only obstacle now is that i have no US iTunes account. I could get the US gift cards off eBay and set one up that way and start downloading apps, i'm sure there are people doing it outside US. Sigh, why don't they just have one single iTune store and every country can just use it...

You can set up a US account using the details of a hotel in the states and selecting the no payment option. Also there are a few sites that sell the US itunes card but they normally add another $10 on top of the value of the card.

With a little bit of mucking around you can get your IPad to sync your NZ apps and ones from the US store.

I've set up a US account.
Tried to purchase apps with credit card but they don't go through.
What's the catch here ??
