Apple's share price has fallen since the release; a probable initial reaction to Apple's pricing.,,,

The biggest concern appears to be the delayed launch dates, Analysts had expected AAPL to sell around 10 million units of the new phones in Q3, with the X not shipping until mid Q4 , both Q3 and Q4 forecasts are at risk....

If AAPL missed both Q3 and Q4 earnings expectations, you would see a fair bit come off the stock ( which has run up over 30% in the YTD as people bet on the X being a "super cycle" phone)

Sure ppl will say they will simply book the sales as Q1, but the US market is all about quarterly metrics, if you miss them you get punished....

I do wonder how many that shell out $2K for the X this year might rue the decision if the in screen fingerprint reader is perfected and released in next year's model.
It's a pretty open secret that both Apple and Samsung were aiming for that this year but couldn't iron out the kinks in time. An awkwardly placed fingerprint scanner was one company's answer, the other went for super smart facial recognition (yes I know Samsung has facial recognition/iris scanning as well).

I was looking at the iPhone X images on Apple's website.

The image shown on the display does NOT curve all the way to the edges at all - there is a dark border all the way round.

Compare the Galaxy S8 display, which does in fact curve all the way round.

Is that a true representation of the screen on the Apple page or not? If so, it does not seem very curved at all as far as the live part of the display goes.

It dropped .075% in share price, considering its up 10% in the last 3 months alone I'd hardly call that an adverse reaction to pricing. As has been mentioned the limited availability of the X model is what will hurt Apple. The pre orders are going to be huge

I dont know where you heard about curved edges from? The iphone X was never said to have curved glass ala Samsung.

In answer to your question, how it looks on the website is how it actually is

So my question for current iPhone users is this: What iPhone do you currently have, and what phone will you next buy - the iPhone 8 at $1,200+ which looks no different from the phone you currently own, or will you pay close to the $2,000, or more, Apple are asking for the new X? Or will you buy something other than an iPhone?

(This is a genuine question, not a wind up).

I'll be upgrading from iPhone 7 to the iPhone X (as long as 2degrees will be getting them day 1).

I currently have a 6 and plan to get an 8. It's been three years and my 6 is starting to feel a bit slow, especially with some of the bloated apps that developers are pushing out these days. I don't mind that it looks the same; I consider the phone to be a tool, not a fashion accessory.

I have always been a windroid type, disliked the Apple 'walled garden' and my brother's Apple fanboyishness used to annoy me.

Then in Feb I badly needed a new laptop and I bought a 15" Macbook Pro. At first, Mac OS annoyed me but as I got used to it and started to enjoy the way it linked and synced fairly seamlessly to my iPad, I got to like the Apple ecosystem.

I got caught in the Note7 debacle and currently have a Huawei P9+ which has basically never received any updates of Android security stuff or OS - still on Marshmallow. I'm thinking that if I get an iPhone, I can have the ecosystem across three Apple toys - which would be quite useful (and cool).

I am likely to get the X 64GB - because I pay Apple $1.49/month for 50GB of iCloud storage.

In some ways I would actually like a Note8 - IMO a superior phone and also very cool. The X is ridiculously expensive but I'm a sucker so I'll be in.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

The related saying is "buy on the rumours (share price goes up), sell on the news (price goes down)."

Here is some news on fast charging for the phones:

EDIT:

There is support for fast charging, but only over USB C and with a different power brick eg the one that comes with the new macbooks

Excellent, I have a USB-C power brick and a USB-C --> Lightning cable so that suits me!

I agree re the MacBook. I am heading right back there in the next 6 months or so, after a detour into the world of the Surface Pro has not proven to be what I had hoped it would be.

As to the phone, that bothers me less. I more or less only use my phone to make calls, send email and read newspapers. I don't really miss the Apple integration there much.

Given earlier suggestions that the A11 has comparable performance to a MacBook Pro I think it's really unfortunate that you can't connect the new iPhones to an external monitor. I guess you could use airplay to mirror it to an Apple TV but the limited screen resolution wouldn't give you the same experience as using a 'real' computer.

The only thing I use my MacBook Pro for now is spreadsheets and web browsing on sites where a larger display is needed. It seems like a bit of a waste if a mobile device can handle everything else.

If i could plug the iphone x into a dock that supports keyboard/mouse/screen and have it run MacOS as a desktop machine then i would totally buy it.  I think there would be a few people that would like something like that.  Just think plug your iphone in, do you work, remove it and it turns back into a phone.
