I think there would be a few people that would like something like that. Just think plug your iphone in, do you work, remove it and it turns back into a phone.

What if instead of getting the whole MacOS experience, you get a cut down iOS experience with a keyboard and mouse? Like a hybrid of sorts.

Using the touch screen as a mouse tracking/pointer type device and a full keyboard on a big screen.

I actually dont see apple doing that anytime soon. But hey, its good to think what could be possible

That part of the keynote where they demonstrated the FaceID (FailID) I'm unsure whether the fail was due to picking up the wrong phone or it just genuinely failed and he wiped his face to give the recognition a better shot at working. I didn't notice a change in screen projection if he did pick up another phone so I can only assume it just flat out failed. It's gonna be interesting to see how it fairs in the wild.

(This is a genuine question, not a wind up).

I currently have a 6S+ and have just come off my 2 year contract so will probably re-sign for another 2 years to get the discount and purchase an 8+. I'd like to go for the iPhone X but it is silly money IMHO and generally after the first rush it becomes just a phone/txt/mail/FB/weather/music provider for me.

Anyone looking to buy a 6S+ in very good condition? LOL

or a marketing incentive to keep prices where they are and market accordingly. If Apple try to stay at this price point come the next iteration of iPhones then I will gladly jump ship back to Android...

It will probably have the opposite effect, with new release phones trying to beat Apples price to gain market share. I believe Apple has now priced themselves off the mass market. But, I am sure they know this.

I want to know if Face ID works through sunglasses. I would imagine face mapping through sunglasses will be fine, but will it be able to tell whether you are looking at the phone?

I agree that the iPhone X is rather expensive. BUT, the rumours are that it will be a very limited yield phone so pricing it more aggressively (cheaper) would probably not have been in Apples interest because they wouldn't have been able to supply to demand.

If you look at the lineup of phones, they haven't done anything to price themselves out of the market. They provide phones from $599 and up.

Don't see a price hike in the iPhone 8 either. They are priced similar to what the iPhone 7 was last year. To nitpick, the iPhone 8 starts at $1249 while the 7 was $1219 - but the 8 has 64 GB storage vs the 32 GB of the 7.

Well from a long time Android Fanboy I have to say the X is a great looking phone and love the screen. Think that phones have now turned a corner and becoming too expensive to change every year, well me anyway, and features are now more and more gimmicky. I enjoyed the S5 with its changeable battery and plastic body as it was practical, glass isn't as I hate buying something nice and having to cover it up.

Samsung and Apple seem to chase each other which is good for technology but bad for price conscientious.

What is interesting from some of the info I have seen, is that the new phone will have a weird aspect ratio, and due to the notch on the display, it means viewing videos will mean that a lot of the screen gets cut out. Otherwise you end up with bars at the top and bottom, giving it a head and chin again. Also web pages get cropped at the top and bottom, and at the notch. So I am wondering if it is going to be all that great for many when they try using it. IMO the notch creates problems, and hopefully the next version gets everything under the OLED screen, as apparently that is possible with that technology.

I was looking at the iPhone X images on Apple's website.

The image shown on the display does NOT curve all the way to the edges at all - there is a dark border all the way round.

Compare the Galaxy S8 display, which does in fact curve all the way round.

Is that a true representation of the screen on the Apple page or not? If so, it does not seem very curved at all as far as the live part of the display goes.

I dont know where you heard about curved edges from? The iphone X was never said to have curved glass ala Samsung.

In answer to your question, how it looks on the website is how it actually is

I wonder how 5.8" measurement is taken from ... the screen is not quite rectangular ...
