I'm on a corporate plan, so have to buy outright, but that better not cause me problems getting one or I will be more than mad.

Sounds like these will be sold via the normal apple retail network tho (Like the iPad), so will places like DSE, Noels etc (if selling them), be able to enforce those kinds of conditions?

im not too sure. tbh i dont know how true it is. or maybe its just student IT that are doing that to its customers. im going on plan anyway. but i dont think there will be any problems. good luck tho.

i really hope there will be enough. if not, im going to have to run from student IT to vodafone to magnum mac haha...

Like last time, to buy outright it will have to be online initially or from a non Vodafone store.

They are trying to get people on plan as it is their money maker so those wanting to buy outright on launch day in store, could potentially miss out.

I thought you could still buy it outright in store as long as you proved you had an account with them?

I think last year student IT said the same thing for the 3GS. I guess you'll have better luck with Magnummac or Playtech (they sold the 3GS last year outright).

Anyone else see the lack of logic here?
StudentIT is owned by MagnumMac, and surely to them a sale is a sale. Regardless of whether it is on contract or prepaid, selling the handset would almost certainly have a profit of a few hundred dollars for them.

I don't see why Apple can't supply directly to retail stores completely seperate from Vodafone like they do online, and as they do with the iPad.

Good point, tbh I never thought of that.
I would say that if you told them you have an account and they can prove it, then it wouldnt be a problem.

Even if there are no shortages, I believe Apple will want to limit the stock that goes out initially just to create the hype, hahaha.

Yes I personally do.  I mean seriously, no white back cover?  Apple can make any company flip over 360 degrees with a flick of the finger.

hm...well thats going to be annoying a few months/years down the track. resale value of the '1st revision' iphone 4 with antenna issue will drop down in price so quickly. i can see alot of people getting angry over that - tbh i would definitely be one of them.

i buy your apple iphone asap because i think it is great and i am rewarded with a slap in the face - sorry your black, unscratched iphone 4 is actually only worth 300.... what? but i paid 1200 for it.... exaggeration used but still...
