Shouldn't have dropped the audio jack ...

I love journalists. They have no idea what they're reporting about. Anyway, last I checked they can't make them fast enough. Every model I clicked on say "ships in 3-4 weeks", some 4-6 weeks.

They'll ship it in 3-4 weeks but take your money today though ;)

Also, that article seems pretty fairly balanced, they said Apple reported their " third quarter in a row of declining iPhone sales" even though their revenue was higher than expected (due to growth in their service business, iTunes and the App Store)... Which makes perfect sense since fewer people overall are likely to upgrade these days just for an incremental update (or for a device which lacks features their old phone has, like the audio jack), but everyone wants cool new music and apps.

No they dont

That sounds like they have a problem ... maybe it also catches fire

And it also sounds to me you're quite bitter about the headphone jack. or lack of. Sorry I can't help you. Maybe this will allow Android to eat into the market share a bit. But maybe not ... because ... Apple fans!

I switched from a Nexus 6P to the 7 Plus a couple of weeks ago (the new Pixel just looks very ugly and disappointing to me) and so far I have not missed the headphone port at all.

I use bluetooth headphones on my motorcycle and when I am walking around (bonus here, the bluetooth signal strength from the iPhone is massively stronger than the 6P ever was, I used to get skips with the phone in my pocket) and I have the 3.5 to lightning adapter permanently attached to the spare set of wired headphones sitting on my desk which I used the other day listening to the presidential debate when my bluetooth headphones finally ran out of battery after a full days usage.

I cant see it being an inconvenience unless I decided to regularly swap between 3-4 sets of wired headphones, in which case I would just buy a couple of extra adapters.

Not bitter. Just think that dropping functionality from a product for reason of a self-serving revenue grab, then telling loyal customers that this is something that took 'courage' is something that discerning buyers should recognize as such.

Are lightning ports as robust as the 3.5mm jack for surviving constant use? It will be interesting to see in time if how the lightning ports hold up with significant increase in use, especially from heavy users of the adapter. Ports which typically were used once a day to charge may now be used 3 or 4 times that.

Time will tell but i have had more issues with 3.5mm jack than lightning, which gets plugged and unplugged 5-6 times a day minimum.

That would be such a good reason to come up with another port. Let me guess - it connects by itself and is called the gravity port.

I had heard that there is a new iisue people are having with the new 7 models, called crackgate. Apparently some people are getting a cracking sound when they hold it in certain ways. It wouldn't be an iphone without a 'gate'

That's strange, I would have thought Gates should be reserved for Microsoft products :)

Not new and not to do with how it is held, apparently there is an audible sound through the headphones when the cpu is maxed out. Haven't had it myself but I doubt I'll ever max out the cpu.

No that is 'Hiss Gate'. Crack gate is a different thing, and it is from the actual casing when held. Although to be honest it may just be people inventing something for clickbait.

I googled this issue and can say that my phone doesn't click or crackle when pressed on as described in the articles I found.
