I'm exactly the opposite. I've got a MicoSIM card sitting in front of me but no iPhone.

Mine had old software, since it wanted to update when I synced.

Got a problem (maybe)... sometimes when I flip the phone to landscape the screen doesn't follow.. fixed by restarting phone... an issue with the new software?

My wifes had old software (can't recall whether it was 4.0.1 or 4.0.1), but I upgraded it to 4.1.

I'll ask my wife if she's experienced this problem. Don't hold your breath though; she only just discovered her phone could do that this morning :-)

I think it doesn't hurt doing a reboot of your iPhone. A good reboot from time to time can clean up some of the strange behaviours.

Hold down the main button together with your power button. You won't lose any data.

My mum got her iPhone today (ordered off the apple store webpage). Straight out of the box it has been having wireless & reception issues so back to apple it is going. Turn around is original lead time for orders (2-3 weeks). Really crap for her to experience this given dad & I both have iphones.

In other news my free bumper arrived. Nice freebie to get.

If you just hold the main power button on top then that allows you to turn off the device. Does your suggestion do something different?

Holding down the bottom at the top only turns the phone on and off. Heavenlywild is talking about a reboot which sometimes seems to fix problems. You need to hold the home button down at the same time as the on/off button. Hold them down until the apple logo appears. The slide off will come on first but keep holding them together until the logo appears.
