I think you misunderstand the entire vision of Apple. Cut costs, never. Make money, sure. Make users happy, definitely.

Cutting costs is what any company in their right mind try and do, as it is pure profit that you gain. Apple like any other manufacturing company would put cutting costs high on their priority list. However this would not be at the expense of a beautifully crafted piece of hardware.

That is a sad reality.

As is that I think Foxconn has higher rates than other factories, but they are all high, and I assume Foxconn make for other companies as well? This is really an issue for the Chinese Government. Thats the Chinese National Party that doesn't have elections, and is communist. ( In name only, in practice 101% captalist)

Apple is unable to accept credit, debit, or cheque associated with a billing address outside of Australia.

BUT.. (when I'm going thru the ordering process itself)

it says....

7.1.2 The Apple Store accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express cards associated with a billing address within Australia or New Zealand.

I've ordered via NZ CC Card and sent to Father in-law in AU.. I'll see what happens..

I am fairly excited! Wooooo!

My Wife was going to go over for other stuff (until she broke her ankle last weekend)... but I'll find some other way to get it back to NZ

Heard Voda radio ad this morning, $0 down on iPhone 4, on a certain plan. Quite normal these days, except that it goes only up to 16 October. Tells me they will have the 4S on 17th??

Thats what I am assuming from the ad. If they are offloading iPhone4 stock on this offer up to 16 October, maybe the iPhone 4S is being released on 17 October

Could just as easily mean they will announce the pricing for iPhone4S on the 17th, but not launch it until [insert some other date]
