CYaBro: Yea your phone has to be showing the fault before it will be repaired.
The replacement program will be available for three years after your original purchase date so i have no problem with that.

If you have an apple service provider near you then book it in for the repair, should only take a few hours not 10 days.
Apple have sent us consignment stock of the isite cameras so we can do the repairs straight away, I assume they have done the same for other service providers.

Umm, it has to show fault to be replaced? I thought they replaced regardless?

The "may fail" means that these models may sporadically fail? Odd. The serial number range must all have the same production issue. Or that it may fail if exposed to the odd drop etc I assume. Many seem to drop phones, so if its in a case, its fine, but perhaps the occasional jarring loosens something.

But we all have 3 years after purchase, so if it fails in that period, and if you still use it, thats fine.

The other issue is that I am sure many of us still have contact with our old phones. Wife has my 4S, gave daughter my 5S, sold 5 to a mate, wife wants my 6 Plus. So any future issues will be with me. Cyabro, if the camera failed after 3 years what is the ballpark repair cost?

Ballpark around $150 for parts and labour.
That would be using the exchange price from Apple, meaning the AASP would send your faulty part back to Apple.

What are my rights if I have a tempered glass protector on my phone? I paid $50 for that protector, can I claim that expense back from Apple if they remove it? As it isn't my fault that the phone is faulty.

Also where can I get my phone fixed where it only takes a few hours? The place I rung; NZ Smartphone quoted me 2-3 day turn around, that's far too long. I have important stuff that I do with my phone.

If the glass protector only covers the front screen then it shouldn't be an issue as it won't stop the technician from being able to open the device to replace the camera.
However if it did, and had to be removed, then I'm afraid you'd be out of luck as it is a 3rd party part an Apple won't cover those.

Who are NZ Smartphone? Are they listed on the Apple website as an authorised service provider?
If not then they can't do the repair for you.

Could someone who has the issue with their device post a photo as an example so we can see what is happening?
We haven't seen the issue ourselves and had our first one come in today however I couldn't fault the device, photos look perfect to me.

Mine had this issue. The photos were very blurry. Like the auto focus wasn't working.
It was in focus if you took a photo of something 30cm away, but a room away was really blurry.

Edit. I'll see if I can find a photo

I would think it would be a consequential loss under the CGA, so if I was in that situation, I would expect apple to cover consequential losses. At least that is what I would expect if it was covered under the CGA, and not when purchased for business use.
For example, I had a faulty camera replaced under the CGA with the newer model, and the retailer had to also replace the case I purchased separately, as it no longer fitted the new camera, and it was a consequential loss.

I have some important messages/pics e.t.c on my Viber APP, if I backup my phone to iTunes, and then have the phone repaired and reset. Then me restore my phone from my iTunes backup will everything be as normal, like all my Viber messages will be there as if I did nothing? Or will it be blank?

You should have everything, except the wifi password. Identical apart from that. Maybe email PW as well

You shouldn't loose any data, but backup just in case, the quality program is only for the rear camera to be replaced.

The problem is the Auto-focus.

And yes we are an authorised service provider for Apple.
