https://www.apple.com/support/iphone6plus-isightcamera/   There's a recall for some iPhone 6+'s at the moment. There's a problem with the iSight Camera. They say if you don't have a problem at the moment, you will later.

Get in as you'll most likely be affected. I called into Apple and they say there's a 10 business day turn-around for repair so you won't have your phone for that time, and if you want a loaner phone you'll need to place a bond on the loaner phone, $1485 if you have a 64GB iPhone 6+.

Ridiculous.

On the positive, at least Apple is owning up this time to a fault. Historically, their modus operandi is to deny any hardware fault, where the clear user experience is otherwise.

Or tell you you are holding it wrong.

Out of interest, does that ten day turnaround still apply if you have AppleCare?

Interesting. I got my camera module on my 6+ repaired about 6 weeks ago. The same described issue.

My serial number puts my unit in the at risk group. It is not clear if Apple are doing proactive repairs or does ones machine need to be exhibiting the fault before they will repair.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Are you saying if you want a loaner iPhone 6+ whilst its being "fixed" you will have to place a bond of the retail cost of your iPhone 6+ whilst its being fixed. (Forward Replacement??)

My iPhone 6+ (and my Wifes) is affected.

Exactly. I was seriously pissed off when they told me I had to put a $1485 bond on a loaner iPhone 6+. Ridiculous. 10 days without my phone I paid for and expecting to fork out that much for a loaner phone.

Balls. Mine is in the serial number range, but currently no issues (touch wood). Not sure what I'd do, have to fork out for the bond I expect as no phone, no Apple watch etc.

Cheers,
Joseph

Recently my iphone had issues which required it to be sent away and no loan phone was available. I freaked out in the beginning but it turned out to be a really valuable lesson on how I quite easily live without it. Infact I recall feeling a lot more relaxed. Just treat it is a iphone sabbatical.

Eligible but not seen any issue. On the recall page it seems to suggest that the recall only applies if the issue exists.

I have not had the issue myself and photos are fantastic.

If they suggest the issue needs to be proactively fixed I will send it off once I upgrade then sell the phone on trade me.

Yea your phone has to be showing the fault before it will be repaired.
The replacement program will be available for three years after your original purchase date so i have no problem with that.

If you have an apple service provider near you then book it in for the repair, should only take a few hours not 10 days.
Apple have sent us consignment stock of the isite cameras so we can do the repairs straight away, I assume they have done the same for other service providers.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.
