I would like to see Apple slim down the case quite a bit. The current case for the 13"  is the same as my ancient 2010 MacBook. Reducing the bezels and maybe just maybe offering touch screen but I don't think we will see that.

The MBP range is about 2 years overdue for a major and much needed facelift, I stopped using them because they were just too heavy compared to the competition.

if you are after thin and light then you are looking at the wrong sku....
the MBP is designed for power

the Air on the other hand is thin and light..

Not to mention the 12 inch MacBook..

I would like to replace my fairly battered 2010 MacBook Pro, but it's probably not in the budget. I also really don't like the direction they are increasingly headed in terms of non-replaceable parts and difficult repairs.

Other manufacturers are producing machines that are powerful, robust and light. The MBP range could easily be put on a diet.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

It's not just Apple, a lot of new notebooks have no easy way of getting to the RAM, HDD/SSD, battery etc.

Higher NZD should also help on the wallet too....

I'm still using my late husband's 2008 Mac Pro - dual quad core with 14GB ram and an SSD that I installed a couple of years ago to speed it up a bit. 30 inch Cinema Display - still works great. It has 4 hard drive bays. The second has a bootable clone of the first, and the other two have media storage (photos, movies, music). At some stage it will need replacing, and it will probably be with an i7 iMac.
