Because I have been fiddling with the toggles, and it does now seem to always turn it off when I toggle wifi off via the control centre, and that is without enabling airplane mode. What you have to make sure is that the wifi and bluetooth icons have the line though it. If it doesn't then, it is only disconnected from wifi, wifi isn't turned off completely.

Sadly iOS update (11.0.1) out today makes no changes to this. Looks like this is the new norm, off switches that don't actually turn things off, and when your not looking automatically turn on again.

Apparently the release mainly fixes the office 365 problem. There are still quite a few bugs they need to fix, such as the 3D touch lag.

How did you manage to get control centre to turn off wifi rather then disconnect? it's not a bug it's by design

The icons on the top of the screen disappear, but if you go into settings they are still clearly turned on, and you can turn them off (properly) in settings if you want to. iOS11.0.1 is out today but can't discern any obvious difference. Otherwise loving the update, particularly on the iPad.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

So what kind of battery drain are we talking about when someone who doesn't use bluetooth at all normally.

I have not experienced any difference in battery life across any of the devices in my household because of the new OS. Bluetooth I only turn on when needed, and turn off when not. I doubt there’s much testing about yet with the new kinda-off status.

I mean how much does BT and Wifi normally drain? IME a lot for bluetooth, a little for wifi.

A lot of people are experiencing battery problems and I am also having problems with it draining more. I actually tried to download the update today, but there seems to be a bug in the updating part of IOS stopping me. I press the button to download and install. The button text goes grey with a spinning circle, and then the button text turns blue again. I try again, and the same thug happens. This is fully charged and connected to the wall. The other device I have started installing it without me even agreeing to install it. It is weird.

I know it doesn't help you but i am installing the 11.0.1 update now and it's proceeding ok. Also i had battery drain issues earlier this month which i posted here, the update to 11.0 seems to have fixed that for me.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I haven't had any iOS 11 battery issues either. I dunno, I guess the 7+ battery is just big enough to last long enough in normal use for me not to really notice a problem with having BT enabled all the time.
