If they can keep the price low they will sell by the ship load. What would the ongoing cost's be for this device(on top of a normal voice plan)? Also does it do MMS?

no mms, im sure a 3rd party app will come along for this.. got to wait for vodafone to announce data plans for it.. but with free bebo, wikipedia and youtube on vodafone live i wouldnt need data for much! haha

Vodafone Live is a WAP service, and the iPhone does not have a WAP browser so you would not be able to use the free VLive services

well in that case im sure vodafone are redesigning vodafone live to be a web based system as we speak!... /scarcasim

Agree, Although the second leg of the double is what price plan Vodafone will force you to sign on to for 2 years,
Apple also appear to insist that the plan in include unlimited data, so we await an announcement on how much V'fone will want.

Of course these above provisos only apply to un-jailbroken phones.

I was up at 5 AM this morning, listen to the live audio stream of the keynote, and at the same time I recorded it, it's uploading to my website right now and will be done in a hour, so if apple doesn't release the video of the WWDC keynote ill post the link to the audio one I recorded.

It is still uploading so you will only be able to listen to part of it, when it has finished uploading then you have to re-download it to hear the whole thing.

The quality is pretty bad for the first 2-3mins but gets allot better after that.

Woke up early this morning to watch the keynote live, was kinda hoping to see an updated Mac but oh well :)

I wasn't planning to get an iPhone 3G but when I read that the maximum price around the world is $199? I'm in. I wonder if the 16gb price is also the same around the world. :/

Now I have to find someone to buy my current iPhone ;P

It probably isn't in Vodafone's best interests to make it compatible. Wallpaper, ringtones, et al can't be downloaded OTA onto the iPhone, not to mention the music store competes with Apple's own.

I'm really quite interested to see what Vodafone will offer plan wise though and if they'll include the unlimited data in it as well. ;-)

Going by the current Apple US to NZ comparisons, I'd take a guess that US$199 should translate to NZ$299 and US$299 to NZ$449 (all the NZ Apple Store prices are ~x1.5 the US store). Not exactly exchange rate comparisons, but still pretty reasonable.

The data plan will definitely be the deal breaker.

Going by what i posted before, the maximum price point is $199USD worldwide, which works out to be $262 nz dollars, so they would be breaking their contract with apple to sell it for 1.5x the price of the US models.. This of course will be for the on plan phones, to buy one prepay in a shop u will be looking at $600+ easy for the 8gb. If you think your getting any kind of unlimited plan id say you would be kidding yourself. at a guess and knowing how vodafone like to play the game, id say around 200mb would be the basic plan, going up to gb's for astronomical amounts of coin..

No frontal camera for video calling...thats a massive turnoff for me.

But at $260 odd, its cheap enough to buy anyway just as a fad toy (buy and throw away 6 months later)

I will watch Vodafones site with interest to see what how they price this device, given we all know it 'should' be about $260, being the maximum $199 apple dictates plus exchange rate....

Will also watch closely to see what plan if any they bundle with this phone...
Unlimited on a mobile network I dont think will happen here in NZ as so many people desire (any time soon), but 5GB would be enough for a month...(without going on bandwidth intensive sites like youtube...just for net browsing)

Fair enough, but what happens when the exchange rate changes? Does the price of our iPhone change to match it? I doubt it. That's why I'd take the comments with a grain of salt. I'm saying that taking the "maximum price point" thing at face value is a bit simplistic. You could say the current iPod touch has a "maximum price point" of US$299 for the 8GB, but that doesn't mean it has to be NZ$262 or whatever todays exchange rate is. Seems like they are using an "Apple approved" exchange rate of NZ$1 = US$0.66 (more like US$0.75) and also AU$1 = US$0.77 (nearly US$1), UK£1 = US$1.5 (US$2) to take account of future exchange rate fluctuations, extra costs etc.
