code15: 2.1 unlock/activation/jailbreak released for mac

works very well

awesome my phone is at 2.1 and unbricked again.
iPhone Dev team have done it again
I used Qikpwn 1.1 and was very quick and they have really made the app look even more professional
Nice graphics on your phone showing you whats going on
One thing I like is Qikpwn now asks do you want to replace the iPhone boot logos.. so I retained the Apple original ones

Nice !

Have just tried this.  My v1 phone is still asking me to activate my at&t account.  When I put my vodafone sim in it says sim not accepted.  :-(  Trying again.

Looks like I made a few mistakes the first (and second and third) times through, but the baseband is being flashed right now, so I reckon it's gonna work this time.

Here's what I did wrong the first time:

  • When restoring with option-restore, I selected the downloaded firmware, rather than the patched firmware that was saved on my desktop.
  • I think you need to close the pwnagetool before opening itunes
  • You need to put the phone into dfu mode before attempting the restore, otherwise you get errors.  There's instructions for this at the end of the pwnage tool.
Yep - my iphone has just rebooted and it's up and running with 2.1.

Sweet :)

Thats why qikpwn is a better tool for 99% of people
it is fast and you dont need to make an IPSW file and then choose  it
it just does everything in 1 hit and fires it all on your iPhone.

Anyone else notice that when you receive a SMS and do not read it within 5mins it will vibrate again and play the notification a 2nd time?
Quite a nice feature :P

It is listed in the features. I believe it does it twice
I quote from Apple.

The iPhone 2.1 software update contains many bug fixes and improvements. To get it, connect your iPhone to your computer using iTunes 8 and click Check for Update.

Update includes:

  • Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls
  • Significantly better battery life for most users
  • Dramatically reduced time to backup to iTunes
  • Improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts
  • Faster installation of 3rd party applications
  • Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes for users with lots of third party applications
  • Improved performance in text messaging
  • Faster loading and searching of contacts
  • Improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display
  • Repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages
  • Option to wipe data after ten failed passcode attempts
  • Genius playlist creation

The new software update really messed with my clock on the iPhone 3g

Now if I choose the wellington/auckland timezone it shoowed a time about 10 hours ahead.

So I went into the Date&Time settings and it was set to Cupertino for the actual timezone, so I changed it to NZ time which was still 10 hours ahead.

So I manually changed the time.

Now my National Bank app won't let me log in because im not on the Newzealand timezone right down to the very second.

Anyone else had this issue?

I have noticed there is an option to change the APN now ...
but even after you change the APN everything still loads. The problem I have with this is that I'm using casual data and I don't people using my phone and start browsing or starting any apps that require a internet conenction

I used to use the unlockit.co.nz profile to access and only used it when required. Now I can connect even without it ..

dumb... anyone come across this?

This was delivered as a carrier update before 2.1.

I think there was some discussion on this in the unlockit.co.nz thread, I think the consensus was that the APN is only used for 3G connections so when using GPRS it is still able to connect?
