tdgeek: Im assuming we have FULL control over what goes to the Cloud upon install?

Yup its in the settings once installed. When you install it asks if you want to back up to icloud or not. if you say yes, and then once your setup go to icloud settings, and you will see everything it backs up, and the amount it uses in MB, and the little slider beside each one to turn on or off.

Thanks for that, appreciated. Sorry to bug you again, do I get a choice to back up different types of data so I can choose? As well as contacts which is fine,  I've got podcasts and a gazillion photos that I dont want backed up

The settings is for the data within those apps, like saved game data etc, and documents that are icloud compatible, like pages, and keynote.

Things like podcasts, movies, music will still come from itunes but now you will be able to wirelessly sync instead of with a usb cable. ( once you tick the sync with wifi box in iTunes 10.5 with ios5), you can opt in or out of all of them, wont be long you'll be able to see for yourself.

Thanks NokiaRocks. I see you are on Telecom, were APN settings issue for non official carriers and missing Contacts for calls and texts resolved with GM?

It seems iOS5 actually has APN Settings for Telecom as far as I can tell so this is not a problem..

Missing Contacts for calls and text was fixed yesterday with a Carrier Update (plug into iTunes and check for updates it it installs a small carrier update).

iOS5 may well be available around 8pm tonight which is midnight PDT (Pacific Daylight Time)

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

With nothing having been announced officially I think you'd be safer to assume that iOS5 will be available at 10am PDT as with most previous releases. This would be 6am tomorrow, Thursday 13 October NZST

Is this Normal? (to include APN settings for companies not officially carrying the iphone?)

Or is it perhaps evidence that Apple is about to add Telecom as an official partner??

about time if so...

Read about the APN and contact issues on iphonewzealand.co.nz. The issue has apparently been resolved with a carrier update:

Yes.. Telecom NZ _definitely_ have a built in carrier bundle now since Beta 6 and is now supported via Apple..
I presume 11.0? version was broken thus broken the formatting (and it worked fine in B5 as there was no Carrier bundle for Telecom then)

http://appldnld.apple.com/iPhone/CarrierBundles/041-1399.20111010.34Mxf/Telecom_nz_iPhone.ipcc

Dunno what this means with the relationship with Telecom NZ and Apple now..

APN Settings are hidden with iOS5 with Telecom SIM cards ( as the settings are all set already).
It'll stuff up MNVO's now as you can't edit them by hand now so you'll have to use something like my website to change the data APN if they need to ;

I note in the comments that this was resolved for Telecom users by a carrier update. I also saw mention that 2degrees doesn't have a carrier bundle. Are there any 2degrees iPhone users running the GM version, and if so, can you let me know whether you're plagued by this issue at all?

Yes I have been seeing alternating "cannot connect to iPad software update server" and "you're up to date" messages.
Hopefully it will come online this evening!

Cheers,
Joseph
