I dont mean to burst your bubble, but doesnt 389 sound like a stupid number to you?

I could understand maybe 1000 iphones, i mean, look at all the stores they're going to have them in. (assuming they have them on hand on the opening day)

if it was only the 3 main stores, that would probably be a little more believeable, however, based on that email recieved before (by the Administrator from the PR team) They are going to have stock on hand, so I think 389 is a little bit of a stretch for limited stock.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

That CAN'T be NZD $199, can it?

I'm guessing how many minutes their site will be up before we DDoS them trying to buy online?

A $199 price NZ for the 8 GB is not impossible,
At least one overseas plan ( Netherlands), will give you one for 1 Euro ($2 NZ ) on a 50 odd euro monthly contract)

Where did you get that information from may I ask?

Vodafone.

And just confirmed over the phone - I've checked the e-mail headers before and then called.

Didn't say it was impossible, only that I really find it impressive due to the way things were panning out. Trying as hard as possible to not create huge expectations to then have them explode in my face.

I agree, there is no way that they only have 389 phones available throughout NZ.

Market value is somewhere around $1500 to $2000 NZD. With $199 price the plans are probably going to be $59.95 a month on 24 month terms. The plans are where it's at.

I wish I WAS wrong,

I mentioned that only a few select stores would be getting the limited stock on page 14 (5th July) which has since been confirmed from press release's.. I also mentioned that the managers of said stores had also had their training that week, which I think has been confirmed from later posts by other source's.

So I'm sticking to my 389 as my source hasn't been wrong yet.

If your right, why won't you tell us who your source is??
You don't need to mention names, just tell us what they do and are they actually from vodafone??

My common sense:

389 over around 40 stores (by quickly scanning through the maps) = around 10 iPhones per store.

Now lets push half of the stock to the 3 major 12am stores, leaving around 5 iPhones per general store, 65 per major store.

I seriously doubt that they would price it at $199 and then only have 389 of them to sell

I could be wrong though

I don't see that being the case. If there WAS such limited stock then they would surely have a very limited number of stores launching with it (remembering the online store is selling it also).

Can you imagine the drama if there were only 5 handsets per store?? Only a couple of each model? Chaos would no doubt ensue and Vodafone would come out looking very red-faced. Imagine those poor buggers who DO line up only to find out that the first 5 people will be the only ones receiving a phone.

I think they've got it all under control. Or at least hoping they have...
