Dial111: New iPhone prices are out.

iPhone X-S

64gb $1899
256gb $2199
512gb $2599

Wow! The iPhone X-S Max has some eye watering prices.

64gb $2099
256gb $2399
512gb $2799

The el cheapo iPhone X-R

64gb $1399
128gb $1499
256gb $1699

Eye-watering prices is right!!! Nearly $3k for the top model... Apple clearly knows that we have more money than sense!

Can’t help but think that the 6.1 inch iPhone Xr 128gb model at $1499 represents the best value by far

Apple Watch series 4 pricing is $699 for the new format, smaller 40mm screen and $749 for the larger 44mm version. Series 3 drops in price to $479 for the older format 38mm screen and $529 for the 42mm version.

A year ago the NZD:USD was 0.72. It's now running at 0.65, a 10% loss... so only to be expected prices will go up.

But normally when the exchange rate goes back up, Apple doesnt adjust prices back (but they do seem to change their TO_CARRIER prices, as the $$$ off deals tend to appear. I expect Voda and 2D to run deals in Jan/Feb just like this year... Voda had $500 off at one point for the X.

At what point do these prices become a little bit silly?

Was it as much as $500? I think that this was potentially more in anticipation of the X being discontinued perhaps?

I’m 99% sold on the XR better battery, larger screen, better price. I don’t need IP68 or ever use 3D Touch. Looking forward to seeing launch deals. A little sad the XR launches a month later :-(

When people stop buying them to the point that the company's profit margin drops and the shareholders/board start asking questions.

I'm going with the X-S Max 256gb BUT now have a dilemma with which provider.

Currently on Vodafone - looking at switching to 2degrees for rollover and better data sharing.

Also despite me buying the Series 3 Apple Watch only a few months ago I think I'll be upgrading this too.

So is 64GB the new 16GB?
Be interesting to see how much of it is available for use. I imagine the lowest capacity (particularly the r) will only be for corporate use.

Seeing as the new iPhones now supports dual sim by way of eSim, are we able to take advantage of this? do NZ carriers support it?

As I mentioned earlier I have an 8 Plus so I wasn't planning to upgrade this year and I'm pretty relieved about it when I look at those prices. I might seriously consider buying an XS Max next year when it is superseded by a newer model and, presumably, discounted accordingly.

The watch seems expensive too. If the larger aluminium variant is $750 then how much will a 4G enabled stainless steel variant cost if/when these are available in NZ?
