as an android user for many years, im not invested in their system at all... 99% of all apps I use are free apps... im struggling to think of anything paid for (maybe tasker?).
If iphone suddenly dropped in price to the same price as a xiaomi phone, swapping from android to iphone wouldnt be too much of an issue, i'd get use to the interface (currently whenever i pickup a iphone i hate it, but thats because I'm use to the android interface/way of doing things).
but they won't (and I wouldnt swap anyway, i do like android).
why on earth would i pay $1400 for a phone when a $300 is practically just as good in all the areas that really matter?? sure my resale value will be less, but the phone cost me $300 vs $1400. I couldn't care less about loosing $100 a year on a phone (assuming I keep the phone for 3 years, current phone ive had for 3.5 years).
In the past I swapped from an iphone 4 to an windows phone to samsung s3, since the samsung ive stayed with android. Windows phone I felt was kinda the best, it was just lacking in apps, the homescreen and the speed of it was impressive.
I do wish there was a real alternative to imessage though that worked on multiple platforms. thats basically the only feature of iphone im envious of. i use facebook messenger as my primary chat app to mimic imessage (which it does if everyone else uses fb messenger, most ppl i know do).
most people I know have android phones, so imessage would be wasted on them.
