Mine was replaced under phone insure and the refurb unit looked brand new - so yes - new back and glass

Nothing "disgusting" this is standard industry practice in technology.

Refurbs actually get a better QA than the non-refurbished units, since they go under QA twice.

perhaps, but when you take a look at things like the ipod touch... savings of 90-100bux on something thats already 400-500bux... and for something that's last gen as well. just doesnt seem worth the trouble? so you might as well buy new - i guess thats just how i feel anyway
