ahaha got it! So awesome. First NZ unboxing video?

Sorry to steal your thunder but I love it how the media are so off base sometimes (not your fault of course!).

"...first person in NZ and perhaps even the world to get his hands on an iPhone 6S..."

  • I opened my iPhone 6S here in NZ over an hour before that
  • I'm sure I wasn't the first in NZ either
  • Someone in the US got their iPhone 6S (or Plus) delivered earlier this week
  • Reviewers overseas have had the device for a week or so already
  • Apple employees at the key note were handling the phone at the start of September
  • I am sure that Tim Cook and other key execs would have had the new devices well before launch
  • Apple designers would have had their hands on the phone well before this, as would assembly staff
Yes I am being a pedant.  Not slamming you Sam, just the media... :-)

Are you actually serious ? I mean, for real ? frown

Which part are you disputing?

Yay, very happy, have mine in my hot little hand. The case I bought obscures the beautiful rose gold edges, though the back is still visible. Will definitely be looking for an all-clear option for my permanent case, I think. Or one with a rose gold matching bumper. Managed to "fracture" the glass screen protector down by the home button when peeling back a corner to remove a dust speck, but it was only cheap so will swing by Dick Smith tonight and get another. It's not that noticeable but I am a perfectionist and the little light refractions are annoying me, even though they're not across the screen itself. I haven't had a chance to use it yet as I need to go home, run a backup on my 5, swap the SIM over and then restore the 6S from backup.

littleheaven: I'll eat my hat if these pre-orders are coming from China. My money is on them shipping from Sydney by lunchtime today. Shall we have a sweep? :o)

I'm glad you don't have to eat a hat :-).  And am very surprised that the number of handsets ordered via the Apple Store for delivery today here in NZ was/is 18,000 if that number is accurate!  Wow.
I doubt that 18,000 number is correct - since it also came from Taylor at Apple who said that none of the phones would ship until this morning and would be coming from a warehouse in Auckland. Which we now know wasn't that case at all - these orders initially shipped six days ago.

Completely agree, I was waiting in line and saw the posts on this thread about those lucky ones who got it delivered pre-8am so i kinda held my tongue whenever they mentioned it. Also they seemed to ignore the staff walking around with them too before I even had my one xD but "Spark employee first to get iPhone in NZ" won't really make a good headline :P

Side note: Anyone who's got their new phone setup, are any 3rd party apps utilising the 3D touch yet? I recall seeing videos showing a demo of Facebook and Instagram using the 3D touch but it doesn't seem to do that on my one. It does the little double vibrate thingy.

Took a short little 4k test.

Seems can only upload from phone to YouTube in 4k by using iMovie.  Tried the YouTube capture app, but no go.

Mine should be arriving at any moment now. When I get stuff delivered by CourierPost, it's always delivered by a person on a bike delivering the standard NZ Post mail. And 11:30AM-1PM seems to be my delivery window.

:D

Benjip: My CourierPost delivery status is now "We have your item at our depot, it is waiting on your couriers next visit to your area. Note in a residential area this may be the next working day."

I'm guessing they attempted to deliver to my apartment building pre-8AM (which means no building manager to sign for it). Wonder if I can collect from the depot?

Give them a call - they may allow pickup or you might be able to arrange a weekend delivery so at least you don't have to wait until Monday.

It ended up getting delivered just after 10:30am :D

I love your nails! Is it Shellac or are they fake?

I think you did a great job on camera. I was the first one to get a PS2 (on launch night) about 15 years ago, and I was so nervous I could barely speak when they interviewed me haha.

(sorry to be so off topic)

Thank you so much :) Got the nails did last night, my own nails with just regular polish. Gifted with strong nails much to the envy of many friends haha.

The thing was filmed live and the whole time I was thinking "DO NOT MESS THIS UP!".  I hope they didn't make you unbox your PS2 on TV too? haha, that'd be interesting to see.

The damn courier hasn't shown up, but has mine. 9:00AM target delivery has well and truly been and gone - I'm starting to get pretty annoyed.

OMG. You gave them authority to leave?

I hope it's not a bad decision on your part and it's still there when you get home...
