Well that's me out of the running!

Obviously 'reasonable' means 'bleed you dry' in the Vodafone CFO dictionary!!!

Vodafone expects people to pay just under $100 a month for an iphone when the phone itself is around $530 with the plan. If my maths is right, isnt that just under 3 grand?? I thought Vodafone were going to come out and realease really cheap plans but I just cant affaord this. Hopefully I will buy an unlocked one from the US for a fraction of the price.

On the plus side no need to worry about limited stocks from VF, they will have far too many now!

Well folks, I'm gutted. I've only just seen the plans, but I can't justify any of them.... I guess I'm out.

I wanted a 16GB with 1GB of data... TCO is $6349 over 24 months.... I can't believe that many people could justify that....

Maybe that 389 phone figure all of a sudden doesn't seem so ridiculous..

A few comments based on information from the last week or so...

The guy (from Tomizone) interviewed on Campbell Live last night estimated that plans might be between $40 and $80 per month. I don't think we're the only one's surprised by these unaffordable plans.

Just a general note, I was in AU last week and walked past a Three shop where they offer 3GB of data for $15... get a clue vodafone.

Paul from vodafone, don't take this personally, but you must have balls the size of watermelons to come on here and say that the pricing would sharp.

I know i can't afford an iphone.. so i think I might just move to Telecom on principle....

Still gutted.

I Agree with most on here..!
Shocking prices...  COunt me as another one out!!

I am actually very disgusted at Vodafone's take on this... A huge opportunity for NZ but they have just been down right greedy!
I am seriously considering changing service providers in protest!! :-)

Just my 2 cent.

Well I've been watching the overseas pricing while we've been getting closer to the NZ launch hoping I'd have a compelling reason to switch from my unlocked 2G iPhone.

Rogers Wireless in Canada has been getting blasted since the start of this month for their "outrageous" iPhone plan charges.  Now I can't say I feel sorry for those in Canada.

For a comparison:

Rogers:

Price   $60 ($78.40 NZD)

Data   400 MB

Voice   150 Weekday Minutes. Unlimited Evening and weekend calls.

Voice (ctd)   35c per additional Weekday Minute ($0.46 NZD)

Text    75

WiFi   Unlimited Rogers and Fido Hotspot access

Vodafone NZ

Price   $80

Data   250 MB

Voice   120 Anytime

Voice (ctd)   $0.69 per additional minute.

Text  600

WiFi   You've got to be joking.

Oh, and just to rub it in:

O2 (UK)

Price   £30 ($78.44 NZD)
Data   Unlimited

Voice   75 Anytime

Text   125

WiFi   Unlimited

Or:

Price   £35 ($91.90 NZD)
Data   Unlimited

Voice   600 Anytime

Text   500

WiFi   Unlimited
