gurthang117: What are the odds on 2 Degrees offering the iPhone 4S in the next few days? Reasons why/why not?

Will we see a price war between Vodafone and Telecom in the run up to Christmas or do you think once Vodafone announce their pricing that will be that until the next iPhone release?

I'm seriously considering lining up at Telecom's Auckland store tomorrow night, but I'm hesitant about signing up for a 24 month contract (I'm on 2D at the mo).
Can I upgrade my iPhone next year when the inevitable new model is released while on a 24 month contract?

There is no need to, as the phone is now a piece of dumb hardware. The simcard is what is important, not the phone as far as a Telco plan/contract is concerned. Get the iPhone5, pop the sim in and you are good to go.

Was just browsing the vodafone website when a chat window popped up.

Alex: Hi, I?m Alex, a Vodafone Online Shop specialist. This chat is a new Vodafone online service.

You: just trying to get some info on your 4S pricing
Alex: Geat!
Alex: **Great!
Alex: The device comes in either black or white, with the 16GB model selling for $1049, the 32GB version for $1199 and the new 64GB for $1349. The release date will be on November 11.
You: How come that information isn't on this page?

For those currently on VFNZ contemplating pre-ordering via Telecom, I just had this chat with a Telecom person about number porting -

Scott K: If you get the phone on a contract, then the contract term will be associated with whatever mobile number the phone is connected up with. In which case you wouldn't ordinarily be able to port your number over later.
Scott K: Therefore I would recommend porting your number over at the same time as arranging the iPhone purchase.

ie: if you want to take your number with you, you'll need to sign up instore.

Much to the contracy - Vodafone aren't losing customers, but Telecom are being very aggressive in their marketing to attract new customers as they have been losing out in the mobile market. These deals are no different to picking up a free SGS II or the long running $800 account credit for signing up with an iPhone.

From 12:01 AM on Friday, November 11, our customers will be able to purchase the iPhone 4S from our Telecom concept stores in central Auckland (167 Victoria St West) and central Wellington (42 Willis St).

We’ll also be open at that time in Christchurch (Moorhouse Ave) and Dunedin (101 George Street). The iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS will be available from all our other stores from 9:00 AM that day.

If you’re one of the dedicated who plan to buy at 12:01, we’ve got a few things planned to make your wait as cosy as possible. Each store will have entertainment, food and drinks - free for those who register on the day, at the store to buy an iPhone.

In central Auckland (167 Victoria St West) we’re holding a pre-launch event for customers who are purchasing an iPhone with live entertainment by People of Paris and Josh Leys, food and drink, and special guest Dan Carter who will help entertain customers in the lead up to midnight. Dan will hand over the very first iPhone purchased from Telecom to the lucky customer!

Excited? Registrations begin from 6pm and entertainment starts at 7pm. Head to the Telecom Building, Central Auckland (167 Victoria St West), L2 Conference Centre.

Very impressed with the way Telecom's handling the launch of the iPhone 4S tomorrow night.. Midnight launch to create hype, lots of information about plans and availability across their stores, entertainment, food and drink for those looking to be the first to get their hands on the phone, even signing up DC to get involved.. Great work guys!

Saw there's going to be a pre-registering/signup for the Auckland launch event, will the Wellington one have the same thing or do customers looking to get a phone at midnight just need to turn up?

Does this mean Christchurch will also be doing mid night launch tomorrow night?
I thought it was public holiday on Friday, so no one was gonna open.
Im pretty keen to get one.
