Teeps:

Makes you wonder if Vodafone are even interested in selling the iPhone if they don't update their prices.

iPhone launches are advertised well and celebrated at other VF stores around the world so I'm afraid I don't buy the story that Apple only pick on little ole VFNZ with NDA's and the like, unless that relationship has indeed been butchered previously. Either way, I've always got the impression the iPhone was more of a pain for VFNZ than anything else... perhaps it is?!

Guess we'll see how Telecom go.

Does anyone know whether the iPhone4S from Telecom is locked? Because I'm thinking of purchasing a pre-pay 32GB at the midnight launch in Wellington tonight.

I currently have a 3GS that I use my work number on Telstraclear on, but am wanting to get my hands on the 4S so much that I'd rather go to the launch tonight than order from Apple.co.nz.

If it's unlocked when bought from Telecom that'd be great!

It's already been said a number of times, none of the mobiles sold in NZ are locked currently iPhones included.

Any word on when Vodafone's NDA thing ends? Surely they'll release plans and prices before midnight?

mackiwi: Are vodafone seriously going to let telecom undercut them by $500 on handset prices? are vodafone that stupid? who in there right mind would sign up with vodafone for an iphone now?

I have been speculating about this for a while now, they really don't seem to be all that interested in them. Can't imagine they are selling too well otherwise they would be all over it.

I'm going to buy a 4s for the wife and out of loyalty to vf I have been holding off in hope of some favourable feedback, if there are no news by tonight then chalk one up for Telecom, as who knows what their post release deals will be. I want to lock in to the pre-release deal

And here are the Vodafone prices:

Vodafone to Offer iPhone 4S in New Zealand on 11 November

AUCKLAND – November 10, 2011 – Vodafone today announced it will offer iPhone 4S to customers in New Zealand beginning Friday, November 11. iPhone 4S will be available starting at $49 for the 16GB model, $199 for the 32GB model and $349 for the 64GB model with a new two-year contract in Vodafone retail stores and online at vodafone.co.nz/iphone. Vodafone is also offering iPhone 4 8GB for $0 with a new two-year contract.

iPhone 4S is the most amazing iPhone yet, packed with incredible new features including Apple’s dual-core A5 chip for blazing fast performance and stunning graphics; an all new camera with advanced optics and full 1080p HD resolution video recording. With the launch of iPhone 4S also comes the launch of iOS 5, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system with over 200 new features; and iCloud, a breakthrough set of free cloud services that work with your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC to automatically and wirelessly store your content in iCloud and push it to all your devices.

"iPhone has really changed the way customers use and interact with their phones, the latest generation is going to change that again," said Grant Hopkins, director of sales at Vodafone New Zealand. "Customers will undoubtedly love surfing the web, enjoying their social media and texting their friends with iPhone 4S on our high-speed, powerful network.

“We think customers are going to love the value we are offering on iPhone – especially given how much Kiwis love to call and TXT. And we have no charge for calls to voicemail. Already anyone who signs up for a Vodafone Smart Plan contract gets an extra 1GB of data every month for six months.”

iPhone 4S will be available at selected Vodafone stores and online from 12.01 am on Friday, November 11. These stores include Queen St, Auckland; Lambton Quay, Wellington; George St, Dunedin; and Riccarton Mall, Christchurch. It will be available in all Vodafone retail stores from 9:00am.

If you don't give much to SMS (as I don't), the Telecom plans are much better in terms of mobile data...

Good plans from both of them.

I wonder if VF will do the same as they did for the IP4, let you go on a smart85 for 6 months and change back to the smart 45 for no penalty (that's how I bought the wife's one)
