I think the biggest irony of all is that Telstra Next G - the world's biggest, fastest and most advanced 3G network, and only one of a handful of 850MHz 3G networks in the world, won't officially be getting the 3G iPhone.
Go figure!
CRKD:I have spoken to Renaissance Apple Division who has confirmed they will be distributing the iPhone to Mac resellers in NZ; however after speaking to a Manager at a local Apple reseller, he said that they are waiting for their Vodafone dealership application to come through before they can sell it.
wellygary:
It is interesting that you have to be a vodafone dealer to sell the phone, this fits with the "more stringent" activation proceedures that seem to be appearing in the US, with AT&T only allowing instore activation of the 3G as opposed to via Itunes currently, along with rumored "penalties" if you do not activate a phone in 30 days .

You would have thought that they would have learnt by the number of free range iPhones, that ppl are not wanting to be chained down in what they can do with their phone.
CRKD: With Phone + Data contracts likely to be around the NZ$100 a month range, every iPhone is a gauranteed $2400 for Vodafone/Apple, do you really see them jepordizing that revenue?I certainly hope the plans aren't that high. Kinda defeats the goal of being "more affordable" you'd think.

thegeekboy: Hmmm.
All very interesting.
I'm personally keen to see it arrive and it's good to see a defined launch date.
I can't believe the whingeing about no information on Vodafone... I guess those people aren't too educated on how Apple works.
The only place you'll see info on the new device is on the Apple websites.
I'm going to start doing some surfing - I'd bet my left-one that there is NOTHING shown on the Vodafone sites in NZ, Aus, Italy and (OUCH!)
action55: But O2 who sell the Iphone in the Uk have there plans out now for the UK market.thegeekboy: Hmmm.

But iphone's have been on sale in the UK since last year so of course the pricing would be on the website. We are talking about a product which hasn't yet been released in New Zealand.
