So, if I just have it set to not ask for permission then it automatically disallows all apps (even currently installed ones) and I get no pop-ups? Is that correct?

14.5.1 out today as a security release. Both my wife iPhone 10 Max and my 11 Max had borked update screen's.

Had to turn devices off and on to get a normal update screen back again.

Wife had to do it twice to hers.

iPad's and mac's and hackintosh all updated with zero issue.

Same here with two iPhone 11s and a Pro Max. Still can’t get them to show the update screen properly. Tapping on anything just crashes the Settings app. Restarts haven’t fixed it.

I've got the same problem, going to have to do a factory reset to get it to upgrade as iTunes gives error 4000 when trying to update

This does not bode well for my iPhone 12 which will not update.

Oh no.

My iPhone Xr has the same corrupt screen but I managed to tap on Download and install and it is busy preparing the update now.

Will be interesting to see if it is actually able to install it.

Edit: installed fine

I have a XS Max and it updated about an hour ago with no problems.

It's ironic, because usually I'm the one who is prone to having computer problems!

Had a funky update screen on iPhone 11 as well, but update processed through ok and seems to be fine.

On my work phone (1st Gen SE) It did something funky with the battery and drained it from 100% to 20% during the update. Although it's battery is far from great so I'd say its a hardware fault rather than anything to do with the update.

Updated both watch and phone. Phone unlock by Watch works with mask, but feels quite clunky as apps that require face ID still fail authentication. Gets you into the phone without typing passcode which is helpful though. Given any face wearing a mask can trigger this as long as your watch is nearby, on your wrist, protected by a passcode but unlocked, it also feels very unlike Apple's normal security. Oh for a touch Id biometric option alongside the face id on the phone.

I have yet to do my watch.

"It just works" certainly is not true for series 3 iWatch.

Its a whole lot of palaver to go through and to be honest there is nothing new I would use so it's a "who cares" for me

If you have issues installing 14.5.1, just change your language to English (US).

That fixes the corrupt screen and crashing.

Apple know there is a problem with English (NZ).

The only use case for me so far is to unlock my phone when on public transport, but mostly I read on my iPad mini 4 which has touch id.

I use it a lot as I do downhill MTB with a full face helmet, so instead of taking off my helmet and gloves now it unlocks with my watch so I can access GPS/Strava details easily

I also noticed yesterday when I pulled my phone out of my pocket but was looking away it unlocked with my watch almost unexpectedly
