SheriffNZ: Is anyone having issues connecting Airpods to their device since the update? Mine don't always automatically connect and sometimes it will show as being connected to my phone, but the music continues to come from the phone, rather than through the headphones.

Had this once.

I think I read somewhere that there was a new firmware update for EarPods, check you have the latest. Don’t know if this will make a difference l, but worth a try.

I hit two gnarly bugs on initial setup of my 15 Pro:

  1. Data transfer lockup. Waited several hours for the the initial setup to occur and it never finished. Eventually solved by a phone reboot.
  2. Refusal to update. They must've shipped with 17, but apparently required the newer version to do data transfer from my old phone. No matter what I did, the update would never progress past 0%. I even tried plugging into a dock with ethernet (which is cool btw). No dice. Did an iCloud restore instead.

Wife's 15 Plus on 17.0.2 seems to regularly freeze while using phone keypad. Screen doesn't show numbers as they are dialled. Eventually comes right and shows all numbers previously dialled but green dial button unresponsive. No problem calling existing contacts and keypad to unlock works normally. Does this sort of behaviour ring any bells?

Do you mean iOS 17.0.1? That’s the latest I’m running at the moment without any similar issues.

17.0.2 is exclusive to the new phones.

I have just updated my iPhone 13 Pro and Watch Series 6. Both seem to be running okay. I am pleased that the workout app now requires confirmation to finish an activity to prevent this from happening accidentally.

It would be quite good if Watch OS 10 had a widget for battery life as my preferred watch face does not have enough complication spaces for it.

After updating to iOS 17 yesterday, I noticed this morning that my usual iCloud backup did not run overnight. I strongly recommend that all users check this so that you don't get caught out.

I just managed to run a backup manually although it appeared to struggle a bit so it will be interesting to see if it runs overnight tonight as it is supposed to do.

iPhone 15+ on 17.02 just checked all my icloud backups are running fine. Also upgraded my watch to 10 yesterday. Everything went smoothly

iOS 17 and 17.0.2 Apple Music Crossfade has a slight pause immediately before crossfading to the next song - very minor. Notwithstanding, iOS 17 has been very solid and stable for me so far.

Have you tried increasing or decreasing the crossover time? I'm finding 6 seconds works well for my music

(Apple Watch 7) Battery life has been good these last 10 days or so with Always On display turned off.
Optimised charging failed a bit today, I’m back on early shifts, alarm set for 0350, watch had only charged to 80%. Doesn’t seem to be taking my early alarm into account.

Cheers,
Joseph
